--> Planning a cellar studio, did a quick layout in sketchup (funny friendly 3d app from google link ).

In particular it'd be ace if people with acoustics smarts could take a look at these plans and maybe make suggestions, identify problems etc.

I'm planning on fitting bass traps too (either bought or DIY) so thoughts about how these could be best employed would be superb tooo.

thanks!

I'm studying standing waves at the moment (although I'm sure I can't be of much help sadly), but this page is quite useful if you haven't seen it already:

thanks fs! i had seen the article but i lost it. lots of useful stuff in there. eg. symmetry==good (updated the sketches accordingly).

google sketchup...good fun!!!

I think the coal store is a smart move. You never know...

haha! i'm also happy with the cardboard man (he's wearing a teeshirt on top of a longsleeve see).

wheres the gear?

It's all inside the macpro (tall white box in the corner) and the macbook.

i think that bike is gonna fuck up everything.
! :O i wish the bike didn't have to go there..

Has apple come out with a coal powered mac pro?

Or is it bike powered?

cheers for the link FS
ill read it eventually

The bike is coal powered. The new macpros run on paranoia (note the lack of power cables).

LOL!!!

how high is the ceiling?

i don't know about the acoustics, but make sure there's no rising damp or dust. how are you planning to heat it in winter/cool it in summer?

7'8" and lowering by the minute......

oh hey, my macbook just turned on.
