--> Needed a laptop, couldn't stand having both a laptop and a desktop. Got rid of the desktop machine, but not without backup everything up.

Except, of course, ALOT OF FINISHED AND UNFINISHED TRACKS. Now lost to the dead sea of bits and bytes forever.

To be honest, it feels pretty good to be able to start over with a clean slate.

Also. Cubase on mac sucks serious ass. What are my options?

oh my lol. if only live sets could be that much fun.

Live is good. So is Digital Performer. Choose Logic and you will spend a lot of time learning to do basic things.

D'oh! Yup, happened to me too.

Oh wait, now I understand the picture: the ones that got away! Yeah, my best, amazing work was lost in great '02 Non-Backup. I coulda been signed, a jillionaire with a mansion and yacht. :-)

Logic Express seems pretty good. Ableton Live works well as does Reason 3.05.

heh, Logic. Never before has something been so ironically named.

lol
how about.... pr otools?

i still get way better results mixing in logic. even if i write a song in live i bounce it to deparate tracks (have i mentioned how awesome that multitrack bounce feature in live is?) then import into logic and mix.

logic, DP, live, pro-tools are your best (only?) bets on mac. unless it's intel then you can install windows and run whatever you want.

logic comes w/great instruments and plug ins. live has all the controller friendly midi stuff, simpler gui that audio warping it's famous for and lot's of other insanely awesome features that no other app has. ridonculous automation.

Just made the jump myself and, without soundin to geeky, its such an exiting experience! Writing an ambient piece in the british countryside is, maybe, the simplest, greatest pleasure there is. I find it much more productive to get out of the house and sit under a tree and work on my tracks than stay at home!.

And i agree with the comment about logic-coming from a cubase background, things just dont work how you would expect them to. digital performer or pro tools are the best choices

I got Norton Ghost earlier this year. It rox0rs. Creates an image and then you can move it whereever.

thanks for the suggestions. Live is THAT hot eh? I'd better download the demo then
