--> i always find these post-your-studio pics to be masturbatory, but I am going to join the circle-jerk with gusto and post some pics.

I recently had a basement room all to myself, but a little flooding made that untenable. Luckily, we just remodelled our upstairs (it had been a 70's-wood-panneling/sagging-fiberboard-extravaganza!) and I've moved up!

I had to consolidate my gear, which has actually been nice. I have to share the space with my cat Chester, as you can see. He's sitting atop my mixer, which I covered in 1" of foam to prevent him from muting/soling all the channels on my mixer every time he moves his 18.5 Lbs of cat-bulk. he also plays synth and bites the guitar strings.

Also, moving from a carpeted/cinderblock bunker to an open space with wood flooring has made me need to re-learn what my speakers sound like (BRIGHT). I even just built some of those acoustic panels that bleen/jdg/cbit were ranting about (same color as the wall).

Maybe I need a plant?

like opticecho said, get a rug to ease off the high freq reflections. Plus it will really tie the room together.

All I need for my studio now is a resident cat.

wood paneling sucks doesn't it? unless it's on the set of a P.T. Anderson movie.

tidy space. K5000 is dope. glad it's front and center. you should make basslines w/the dx200 and throw them into live. Fm can do great bass stuff and all kinds of weird squidgies.

cats? ugh.

I love the K5K, but I haven't programmed the beast in years. Luckily, it has rapid-knob-tweakability

The K5K is definitely a niche-piece. How many additive synths are out there? Not many, I believe. It has a distinct sound, which can me tweaked to produce a variety of different sound, but really.... its an additive synth. Lush. Digital. Complex timbres. Best for long sounds, imo. Put those 128 ADSRs (or however many it has, I cant remember) to good use.

I love Kawai, tho. They've never been popular, synth-wise. And their often-overlooked status only helps them sound more distinctive than a roland, korg or Nord. Not better. Just different.

i like your cat. all those boxes with knobs are neat too. i hate people with studios though, so you're out of my good book.

Instead of studio, just call it a nerd-hole or nerd-hutch.

LOL... but if I called it a nerd-hutch, the front page would read

mlbots new ner...

instead of

mlbots new stud...

which I'm sure will make tantan jealous if he looks at em411 on vacation.

ferny: why are you always so full of hate?!? My diagnosis, too much breakcore. I'm replacing all your Vsnares CDs with Zamfir.

More hate, more hate!

You should listen to Drumcorps, frn: link

It's metal + breakcore = awesome.

Also, you could just change the title to "Mlbot's nerd hutch" and it would just look like "Mlbot's nerd hut..."
nah, it's not the music, it's all those video games. i just JEALOUS.

metal + breakcore, hey? hmmm...
