Mac's... or PC's..
Now, why am I bringing this subject up?
Because in the near future, I'm planning on purchasing a Macbook Pro. For School, regular web browsing, web site and Flash design, slight travel, and heavy music/recording work. So as you guessed it, I will be doing, "Heavy Work" on it.
Now, one of the reasons I'm considering the Macbook, is because its ability to run Windows. It's the best of both worlds right? I have exclusive Windows only software that I could perhaps die without (FLStudio), so this is a huge plus. I also want to try out the Mac OS X for a while, and purchase Logic Pro for when I need to record a group of some sort.
But what about my USB devices? Will my USB/Midi Keyboard work on Windows via BootCamp? (I know its designed to work on both Macs/PC's but I dont know about Windows.. ON a Mac) And what about ASIO, and devices such as Firewire interfaces (Multi-track Recording)
So I'm asking you, Em411... the community, to respond with some answers that will make my Macbook Purchase fantastic. (of course, the purchase wont be coming for a while, I still have a more cash to raise up, I'll probably get one around the time Leopard comes out and the Led lighted LCD screens)
So, im asking you EM411.. Is Mac the way to go?
(By the way, i hate Vista... and im no fan of XP but it gets the job done. I do happen to have an XP installation with SP2, so im clear for DualBooting)

What sound does a hipster make when you set him on fire?
It's not a joke, I'm really curious.

My hypothesis:
He would try and shrug it off, maybe even try to light his cigarette.
But it needs testing.

specifically, the fcp/pootools problem i heard about was in getting omf files from a mac intel machine to a g5-what do they call it- "backwards compatability"?

ok i have been on pc for a long time, got an macbookpro a year ago. have continued to use my shitty noisy pc a little bit, because i have a few pc programs i love, but i also love the feel of the mac. wanted the mac for stability on my live setup (live - motu 828mkII) and it has been a rock, unlike my pc. i was thinking about installing boot camp, but it wouldnt let me install without removing everything and installing everything again so i got paralells, and now i run xp in a simulated pc inside osx. works great, probably performance is better in bootcamp, but, xp and sound stuff works better/faster/stabler/anyway, good enough for me on my mac. and the advantage with paralells is you can drag and drop files from mac to pc.
i dig it.

I get this terrible "playschool" feel everytime I use a mac.
but then again, I zipped around dos and win 3.1 when I was 8, so microsoft is burned pretty well into my brain.
but then again I used an apple 2 when I was even younger..not that thats really a challange though....
