--> so, i was talking to bruce @ ozone just now, hunting around for the re-release of dan abram's frame disc from 12k, and he said 'you know we are closing right?' ..

dang. i guess i'll just buy junk online now.. anthemm is cool but they can hardly afford to cater to my narrow taste. :/ ozone was the only spot i could really wander in and find something off the shelf, as opposed to ordering it and p/u. prolly due to eric's ordering i guess.

meh.

Ozone has been a portland staple for so long!
I used to save up my $$$ in the eaerly 90's [edit] no wait, it was actually the late 80s [/edit] and head over to the Ooze up on NW Burnside...

is that when you would pick up the latest nkotb white labels? =D

This is horrible. They were the most important record store in Portland and I can now say there is almost no reason to go record shopping anymore. I loved the feeling of walking into a shop where you could easily unload every last dollar in your wallet or even your entire bank account and still end up wanting...no..needing more. Having to make these really tough choices between a limited edition 12' from Skam and a Raster Norton 3 inch CD packaged in a vacuum cleaner bag.
Shopping on line seems about as exciting shooting fish in a barrel to me. This is a sad day in Portlands legacy.

OZONE goes up into the atmosphere and vanishes by nature.

Time to buy up that glut of 2000-2001 kompakt ambient 12"s that goes in the 'play during breakfast' section of my record shelves.
