well, the current chapter in my shame is as follows:
i had to get my car towed away as a result of my wrecking it. it was an olds, so i got almost fucking nothing for the salvage, although i did play the part of the hardass by literally walking away from the deal (they called me back and agreed to my measly demands). so, the guy that pays me waits outside for a tow truck driver.
the tow truck driver pulls up and screams at the other guy "RAFFI I DOAN LIKE IT!" I DOAN LIKE IT RAFFI!!" and they scream back in forth for a bit. The tow truck driver screams a number exactly 3.5 times higher than the number i got for it, and slaps his hands and hitches up the car in disgust.
bye bye car.
so, it comes time for me to jet down to the studio on LA's marvelous public transportation, which, blessedly, takes me in a straight shot from point A to B, no changing buses (this is good because it only comes every half hour). but i enjoy the bus anyway.
today passes famously, clients are happy, im happy, boss is happy, but now im stranded here for the night-the buses have stopped until tomorrow morning. ariel's in orange county for some unholy reason.
so i order a pizza, am drinking soda, got the 411, reaktor on a macpro (YEAH) and its a party and youre all invited!

well, i had plenty of time to go through the library on reaktor as i was waiting.
the sequencing is amazing, the synthesis is ehh ok. the sampling is unreal, and the fx are nice and digital crispy, with that bizarre digital deepness and hollowness. i'm gonna have to get it someday. as a sampler, it's unmatched, i think.
i'd love to hear some more syntheses that go a little deeper than just trying to recreate a juno or a commodore. it's sparkling digital, for crying out loud. that skrewell synth is a shot in the right direction...

For those that missed what is sure to become a bit of em411 folklore, what did fern sing about in her Raffi video?
And has she ever remixed it?

can you explain more about how you're using reaktor as a sampler? i always thought the mapping was kludgy, but maybe i missed something...

i dunno, some of the stuff in the library was sample based. that sounded pretty good to me. like um "vectory" maybe?

the granular stuff is pretty cool, and the mapping is much improved in v5, but since i've got kontakt, i tend to use it first. i sit and look at all those little modules in reaktor and my peepee gets very small.
