The Detroit Electronic Music Festival is this weekend....
I've gone to it every year since it's started in 2000 and have been an avid fan of the event since day one. For some ppl on here, there are festivals every weekend, and electronic music is part of their regular culture. But here in NA events like this are amazing. For ppl like me, who are fans of the music, having the opportunity to be *AT* a techno event is awesome. To hear/see artists performing music that might only be available on the net... it's our chance to re-connect with them and each other. IN REAL LIFE!
The crazy part is... it's in Detroit. For 1 weekend of the year, it's one of the most amazingly awesome cities to be in. Any other weekend, it's not as interesting... but DEMF weekend, there are parties everywhere.. and everyone is "into it". Any other weekend it's hit or miss... but DEMF weekend. It's the place to be.
If you're going.... celebrate it... I like to pretend it's a big DIY rave. What you bring to the experience is what you'll get out of it. Every year I bring something to share... or the openness to go with the flow... Some years have been amazingly awesome, some years I swear I wont go back...
....but every year I look forward to it. This year I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some of the locals playing at it.. as well as some of the imported artists who I haven't seen in ages (if ever).
If you're in or near Detroit and heading to DEMF... hold your head up high and know... ppl are traveling from EVERYWHERE to be part of it... share what you love, cause it's worth sharing... and its all love. ...see you in heart plaza. | |
