--> Everyone has their own opinion, but i want to hear those opinions so I can decide for myself what the best software to use for creating em. Currently I use FL Studio and it is quite enjoyable.

also, can anyone who hasn't added their 2bits here, do so?
link

LOL.

I used Sound Designer II (the two-track version of ProTools)

i've been trying to get ardour to work on OSX... no luck yet.
supports CD authoring (of sorts...) i would like to try it

For the last 3 years I have used Ablotonski Liveski link exclusively, it fits my way of working really well. Started out back in the stone age with, the not so easy to use, Dr.T's KCS link :-)

Sound Designer II was the poo. It was a better world when we only had two channels to play with, and if we wanted to multi-track we had to wait for four hours while we bounced tracks down to mono to combine them.

Cubase SX, Buzz, Wavosaur

Fxpansions GURU is pretty dope as well.

ever tried غSound?

i dont have a favorite app. I'm pretty fast with Cubase too, and I get to use Nuendo quite a bit too. Live and energyXT are others I use.
I use FL Studio for most of my sequencing and VSTness.

All live shows are done in Ableton Live, of course. I'd say Live is more FUN, but not nearly as fast for sequencing as FL studio. And nothing beats it for programming drums.

LOL blast from the past!

wow, yeah. i definately wasted at least an hour on google one day tryin to hunt that software down a few years ago thanks to this site.

I'm liking Ableton live now that I am playing out. Setting up keystrokes to launch clips and scenes has renderred my mmt8 redundant.

I am actually enjoying the learning curve with ableton. It's like there's a new useful thing around every corner.

I do not like the sequencer so far, though. I mean as far as trying to sequence with the mouse; it sucks. Maybe I'll figure it out, though.

Dumb question .... does any of this software sound different?(no EQ or processing) If so .. could anyone list off their characteristics?

Was a devote cubase user (from 3.x on) for years, but when OS x came, I didn't really like the SX stuff, so switched a while ago to Live and love it, suits my way of working (ie lots of different angles and short passages in a track) really well.

About the sound, dunno, people are bashing Live's lack of audio quality, but this is usally down to the 'warping'/stretching and for that it does an okay job. Apart from that never had any issues with Live nor Cubase, nor Logic (Express). There are a lot of myths and forum hypes regarding the sound of a DAW imo. Now a good summing mixer will improve the sound a lot more than let's say Live vs Logic.

i use renoise for sequencing now. i used to use live but i found that i got really lazy sometimes by dragging midi loops out on the arrange page. i prefer renoise because it feels more customizable and intuitive for me to use. the one other peice of software i would like to have kicking around is max/msp though. i think that program is so powerful and would really allow me to make almost anything i could dream up.
