Many of you play the guitar, aspire to play the guitar, study the guitar, etc. I love the fucking thing and I'd like to know who your most beloved or otherwise inspirational guitar players are.
Also, include any technical, effects, and educational practices in the discussion if you like.
Here are some of mine:
Jeff Beck
Roy Buchanan
Albert King
Freddie King
Hendrix
John Scofield
Wes Montgomery
The Legendary Segovia
Leo Kottke
John McLaughlin
Jeff Parker
Jack White
ETC

i use a boss vf1 mainly with some odd effects thrown in. also love the line 6 pod xt but can't afford one at the moment.
i use electric guitars with acoustic modellers on, and acoustic guitars with amp modellers on alot. i don't know why.
guitar rig is really amazing.
also when playing live audiomulch granulators are great for creating huge sounds.

allan holdsworth - he grew up on coltrane and wanted to play sax, but was a guitarist, so he applied coltrane phrasing to his guitar. he's the legato master!

pat metheny as well, despite his cheese sometimes, he is a wonderful guitarist. I think bright size life is one of my fav albums of all time. may also have to do with jaco on bass.
