hendrix is great just for the steel drum tone he gets in band of gypsies

yeah, monty. keef also (i am assuming he is the main guitarist on these) on brown sugar, street fighting man (acoustic guitar through tape recorder), can't you hear me knocking, etc. some great riffs and guitar playing in general. when you want something that just fucking balls-out rocks, he's hard to beat.
