looks kind of like "the propsition" (which i think is a great f-ing movie) in a way. stripped down. i like those deliberately paced dialog driven movies that are intense.

Nick Cave wrote the Proposition? I don't know much about him but hear him mentioned by folks whose music I like, so I should check this movie out. Thanks!

The Proposition is awesome.
Man I love westerns... been watching some 60s ones (Barquero, Adios Sabata, The Scalphunters) and I wish they still made them as much nowadays.

trailer looks good. daniel day lewis is one of my favorite actors so i know i'm gonna see this no matter what.
trailer reminds me of a terrence malick film. voice over, droning kind of cricket sounds, period piece, etc. definitely reminds me of days of heaven.

So, I finally saw this during it's final weeks in 2nd run theaters here in Portland. I thought that it was AMAZING. The music, the cinematography, the performances, everything from a film-making perspective was just remarkable. The story is a bit all over the place, but appropriately so, and the film's key ideas / metaphors are sharp as a blade. PTA seems to be on his way to becoming a true master of gorgeously unsubtle cinema a'la Kubrick, gutsy and audacious and absolutely in total control of his craft. Wowzers.
