A great practical joke I heard about a while ago.
Take a snapshot of your "friends" desktop, set that as the background photo, and there's some function somewhere to hide all desktop icons (forget where this is though).

it amuses me how many windoze users try to make their desktops look like macs with dock-like items, etc.

i've NEVER seen a mac user try to give their UI an M$ skin...
