--> I've been itching to find some doom rock for awhile now. I love sunn 0)) and earth, and I want to find more of that super low droney distorted guitar rock band crap (with or without vox). Unfortunately googling "doom rock" doesn't hit you with as much as when you look up "shoegaze". So for all you doom rockers out there, hit me with some bands!

shoegazers: 0

stay tuned next week while IDM battles Trance in a deathmatch.

STFU, mlbot

or I might have to kill you so zfigz can move to portland

sounds like a win-win situation for Portland to me.

Anyway, can I post my own mp3s?

link <- my band alura une
link <- an earth cover.

ok ok ok, well I think I'm thinking of drone rock. That super low slow stuff is like a total brain massage.

i think the frist couple of celtic frost albums are pretty doomy; morbid tales, to mega therion. and, consequently, hellhammer (which i have a cassette tape of sitting above my computer monitor, apocalyptic raids 1990 a.d.), which is the precusor to celtic frost, is pretty doomy.

for droney, heavy "post rock" type stuff check out pelican.

HOLY FUCK! how could i forget...

SAINT VITUS!!!

nobody here knows what they are talking about.

that said, you people need to check out the band *mare* even though they ar edone as a band, their music is still excellent.

see also: nadja, godflesh/jesu, boris, earth, sunn o))), isis (loosely fits)..

lines are blurry, especially with this kind of music. give up naming it.
sunn 0))) is what I was basing this whole doom rock aesthetic on. I had gone to a bar in williamsburg right before closing and they were playing a whole lot of super low droney evil sounding metal. I admit, names can become meaningless after awhile, but I still want to find more music "like that" if we don't want to give it a title ;) I'm going to look up some of the bands tonight. Keep those suggestions coming and help me compile a cd wishlist!

This thread is intriguing.
I've not heard any guitar stuff for a long time that's got me going, but i think this might.
Plus, i think "Earth" are playing at atp in december, so might check em out now...

i liked this blog because of the the fucking awesome picture

nadja

link

I dled it because it was a fucking awesome picture. There's a whole archive of butterfly pictures that are done in the same aesthetic. Originally I think they were supposed to be coloring sheets for little kids, but the things look pretty cool on their own imho.

a bit like the artwork for my band, no? link

Been listening to some Earth today. I was surprised by how much they sounded like mogwai in parts. Not a bad thing, but I was expecting some way dirtier noises. Maybe it was the particular album i had on.
