--> So my girl and I are in the process of moving. We're almost done now, but yesterday we moved a bunch of shit and the vast majority of it was gear I never use. A milkcrate full of busted toys, a toy piano, 2 acoustic guitars, a bass, an old belt drive, etc. I felt like such a moron for keeping this stuff and not doing anything with it. At least I gave one of the guitars to my buddy who doesn't have any toys at his place.

But it's times like this that make me start thinkin' about software again. It's not as fun to use as hardware, but man...next time I moved, if I didn't have to worry about the sequencers, the beatbox, the keyboards, the mixers, the synths. And I don't even do shit with them!

I guess I've just been too busy. That's a hella lame excuse, so many people have done amazing things in the tiny spaces of time between school, work, and sleep. But I guess I'll be unemployed and I'll have all this free time, and I can see which of these things I really care about. Cos I really need to ditch the rest of em.

i'm glad i'm not a drummer. too much junk to set up and break down all the time.

i'm certainly a minimalist, but i'd have to agree with mlbot somewhat. i have sold a bunch of stuff to friends that i now wish i had back. it was all stuff that i went months without using. but wouldn't you know it, a few months after i sell it i start thinking of uses for it again. but hey, now i can buy even BETTER stuff!

HAHAHAHA.
which one are you?

let us battle, then, and see who emerges as Emperor of the Universe. I'll sick my spacebats on you.

oooh...can i be the one on the far left with teh mullet. a bauhaus mullet with cropped sleeves. ooh..how dandy!

i like the pseudo matador jacket meself.

i hate moving, but i love more than anything to throw things away. my wife is a packrat and she keeps everything. So when we move is a perfect chance to throw away things she will never miss and just doesn't know it.

humorous bauhaus shot...

keeping tons of crap... yep - my wife and I are both packrats - and we've lived in the same house for over 15 years... on top of it I've been blessed with some sort of bizarre OCD "collector" mentality where once I latch onto something - I have to track down all the related things to it. (i might have to blog about that little disorder of mine) - anyway - about 3 years ago or so we started a massive purge of our 'stuff' - it's helped tremendously. we had a huge pile ready for a garage sale - but that never happened due to lots of reasons so it all got either given to friends/family or mostly donated. the local Goodwill has gotten multiple deliveries since then.

pruning out my vinyl and cd's would be a really good idea - but I can't bring myself to do it just yet. some day.

good luck with the move.

my wife is a packrat also. i admit i get a sick thrill from throwing away her useless crap.

we did the massive purge thing this year and have made over $2000 thus far just from junk that was in the attic and garage and closets. cash is just so much better than useless crap.
i go LOLOLOL

mate, tell me about it, i've just had to move all my music stuff/books/dvds into my mate's garage- basically i was told i could move into another mate's in Nottingham for a couple of months until i move o Bristol... except the guy living there hasnt moved yet...!

i have managed to wangle a 5ftx5ft room at another friend's tho. have moved in the essentials: a chair, a sleeping bag, my new macbook and my quadrophonic system!

compact modern living for the modern profesional, damn i feel so metrosexual

Damn! I've been trying to get my SO to do the same thing. So far, no luck.

i am going to move soon but it will be to a place that is at least 2x bigger. then i can get my THREE storage lockers cleared out.

i am looking forward to getting rid of lots of crap too.

moving sucks tho.

when I moved earlier this year I ditched heaps of stuff and still have too much. although a lot of the stuff to be sent to charity is still in boxes in the studio. ...

Now I don't feel so bad about how much stuff I have.

hahaha.
