--> word to the wise for anyone who had been a member of eMusic. after you cancel you'll get offers to rejoin. thats not a big deal, but do NOT click on anything in the email offer.

my offer read: rejoin eMusic now and get 50 free downloads: see below for details. when i clicked on the button to get more details, my account was instantly reactivated and my credit card which was on file was billed. no verification/confirmation, no chance to read the fine print... activated straight from the email in one click.

i really enjoyed their selection when i was a member, but this just puts a bad taste in my mouth. what's worse is that i only have 30 days to download my free mp3's because after that they expire. i've already been billed and i'd rather not deal with the hassle of trying to get the credit back... so i guess the geurilla tactics worked.

i probably would have taken them up on the offer after i read the details, but this pisses me off in principle.

anyways, i need LOTS of recommendations from their catalog because i have to download 80 songs in 30 days. whatcha got?

otter's pic doesn't look that nefarious, but consider that in an email client only the top 30% of that thing is visible. subliminally, the beginning of the next section talking about new music leads the reader to believe he/she has to click on the image maps to get the details.
