good god do they make these songs sound gorgious.
please please please listen all the way through. you don't have to watch it, just listen

gimmie gimmie is really really goood too!
listen to part 2, depression is my favorite.
this group is called the Dirty Projectors, though all the little clips I find don't seem to sound as good as this. they're doing a black flag cover album that should come out in sept. 11

I can't wait for them to finish this album!

do you mean irony like Pat Boone covering heavy metal classix? i don't hear any of that in the clip.

I think it's just a great pretty cover

watch this one, it's better. the copsong was kinda rough
link

sounds like music from the boondocks. kinda country in an urban setting.
usually ends up solidly in the folk category. i don't understand their vocals.
i like the earlier jazz ramblings type of thing; i'm two cups coffee short for these folks today.
i go drink more coffee and listen again!

this is ok and everything, but i played a show with him once, and he was quite possibly the biggest douchebag i have ever had to talk to. it was him and VRRSSNNN or however the fuck he spells his name and they were both impossibly annoying. they were waaay into that whole "i'm smarter than everyone here and it's agony for me to have to walk among such civilians" vibe and it couldn't have been more awful. oh, and their sets sucked. terribly. really, really, really bad. for half his set dp just pointed his finger up and down, shouting "YES, NO! YES! NO! YES!" over and over, if that gives you any idea how bad it was.

I have NO trouble seeing that, oak.
and I lmfao'd at "music from the boondocks"
this is the most uptown art school stuff ever.

I'm a big Dirty Projectors fan, but I can totally picture a good deal of douchebaggery there.

yes ican too, THE SONGS ARE PRETTY GODAMN IT.

Well the record is out, and I for one like it.

Quite beautiful. It isn't the entire Damaged record, just some highlights. No TV Party for instance.

Of course it's less likely to scare your mom than the Black Flag version, but I think it adds (or rather makes more obvious) some resonance to the original. DP's version of Police Story really brings out just how sad Greg Ginn's songs could be.

For a NY art school kid that was trying to seek a more "spritual" feeling.. I'll stick with Arthur Russell thank you..

(I thought Jamie Lidell and Jimmy Edgar would be dicks.. so not true...Jamie was super nice.. Jimmy was just shy.. the girl with him was really outgoing though).
