--> so on thursday i got in from work, got some tea and sat down at the computer to do a bit of em411ing whilst i was eating.
then this crazy shit happened....

i had about 2 mouthfuls of tuna steak (mmmmm) then i got what i thought was a cramp under my chin .... it became quite clear within about 3 seconds that it wasnt a cramp at all!
the 'cramp' feeling got very intense, spread all over the right hand side of my face and went really really numb. if you have ever slept on you arm by accident and woken up to find it feels totally dead but kinda swollen .... thats the only way i can describe the feeling.....but worse.

i knew there was something really wrong so i got up and tried to run into the kitchen and shout out to my dad. i couldnt get any words out at all or even force a noise out and by this time my eyes were rolling back into my head and i couldnt see where i was going. then i lost consciousness for around 3-5 minutes. all that happened very very fast... well under 10 seconds since first feeling the 'cramp'.

apparently i fell to the floor and was shaking around violently. all the colour drained from me, my lips went blue and my eyes 'rolled back' into my head. then i stopped moving for a while. i came around as the paramedics were taking me to the ambulance.

in hospital they told me id had a seizure and did lots of test and brain scans ... all of which were negative so they let me go home friday afternoon. ive got to go back next week so they can run more tests and scan my brainwaves. they dont know what caused it but some doctors said it could be epilepsy. im 24 and nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

ive got a huge lump on my head where i hit the ground and all my muscles - legs, arms, back, stomach, shoulders, neck - are aching like you wouldnt believe ... i can hardly get up stairs!!

feel a bit groggy and drained too..... im ok though... just feel like ive had a very hard game of rugby

because i had a seizure i can not drive for a year!!!!
A FRIGGING YEAR!!!!!
i work 35 miles away. i bloody love my car too. the best bit about working all that way away was the nice drive over the pennines. good photo opportunites up there (see pics)

anyone else ever had a seizure or anything like that?
anyone get them regularly?
it kinda freaked me out

BTW awesome landscapes!

I have had a similar sort of locking up cramp like sensation under my chin before. It's super intense and really scary. Thankfully, it never turned into a seizure.

urrgghhh...not ideal sir, but your attitude towards it seems bob on to me! hope it all works out well for you dude. sam.

I'm so sorry you had that experience. I mean, you survived though, so you can say you had a pretty extreme experience and came away unscathed. Like a few others here suggested, if it is epilepsy there are meds, right? I hope it isn't that and just a curve ball...

Glad you are ok too. Take good care of yourself.

good lord that is scary shit, soft. good thing someone else was in the house.

my dad had epilepsy. it was not fun watching him have seizures. sometimes he'd go off his meds and have them at random places like the dinner table. he never stopped driving, at least while he was on meds.

btw, a word of warning. if this does turn out to be epilepsy, choose your drugs wisely. my dad died of leukemia a few years ago. no one can say for sure, but he and a couple of his doctors theorized that longterm usage of certain epilepsy drugs like tegratol (sp?) may have caused leukemia. having said that, i will say it's allegeded, bla bla bla, please don't sue me drug company lawyers!

aawwww, thanks for the resposes guys.
i feel a lot better hearing about other peoples experiences.

yeah, hopefully it was just my brain re-booting or something.
im still going to heidelberg .... unless the tests they run turn soemthing drastic up .... which i doubt.

to tell you the truth im more worried about them putting glue in my hair and having to shave it off. AAAAAAHHHHH
;)

shit must have been pretty heavy! my step dad had a seizure a couple of months ago, and i know that was pretty freaky to watch happen. turns out he was taking the wrong pills for his blood pressure and all is ok now. he only got a six month driving ban.

soft - glad you're feeling positive about this one. you probably won't have to shave your head, it'll just look like you have monstrous dandruff for a while

that's some nasty shit. it was the first epilepsy medicine they put me on, i was so allergic to it that it made me anemic and i had to go on steroids for 6 months. i'm really sorry to hear about your dad - that's terrible.
can't you get medical marihuana as treatment for some kinds of epilepsy?

Fil> there's probably some messy forums and quite a bit of information/misinformation to wade through on the internet.

Oh no, the Pennines! That's a long walk.. Hope you are looking after yourself. Don't forget the kendal mint cakes :-D

Keep us posted on the testes

tests! lol i can't edit it either

ps - Wow, did you take those pictures in the Pennines? Where?

good god, those pictures are incredible

yep - cool pictures indeed. i go walking a lot in the early morning...mainly to see stuff like this!

I just went up Mount Olympus (to the top, of course!) the other day and it was amazing. Did it in 43 degree heat, but was still worth it.

Those pennies pictures are incredible.

Ooh very bloody nice mister Jetsom. I tend to go up hills, more than mountains I guess...but I always tend to want to carry on higher
