--> so on thursday i got in from work, got some tea and sat down at the computer to do a bit of em411ing whilst i was eating.
then this crazy shit happened....

i had about 2 mouthfuls of tuna steak (mmmmm) then i got what i thought was a cramp under my chin .... it became quite clear within about 3 seconds that it wasnt a cramp at all!
the 'cramp' feeling got very intense, spread all over the right hand side of my face and went really really numb. if you have ever slept on you arm by accident and woken up to find it feels totally dead but kinda swollen .... thats the only way i can describe the feeling.....but worse.

i knew there was something really wrong so i got up and tried to run into the kitchen and shout out to my dad. i couldnt get any words out at all or even force a noise out and by this time my eyes were rolling back into my head and i couldnt see where i was going. then i lost consciousness for around 3-5 minutes. all that happened very very fast... well under 10 seconds since first feeling the 'cramp'.

apparently i fell to the floor and was shaking around violently. all the colour drained from me, my lips went blue and my eyes 'rolled back' into my head. then i stopped moving for a while. i came around as the paramedics were taking me to the ambulance.

in hospital they told me id had a seizure and did lots of test and brain scans ... all of which were negative so they let me go home friday afternoon. ive got to go back next week so they can run more tests and scan my brainwaves. they dont know what caused it but some doctors said it could be epilepsy. im 24 and nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

ive got a huge lump on my head where i hit the ground and all my muscles - legs, arms, back, stomach, shoulders, neck - are aching like you wouldnt believe ... i can hardly get up stairs!!

feel a bit groggy and drained too..... im ok though... just feel like ive had a very hard game of rugby

because i had a seizure i can not drive for a year!!!!
A FRIGGING YEAR!!!!!
i work 35 miles away. i bloody love my car too. the best bit about working all that way away was the nice drive over the pennines. good photo opportunites up there (see pics)

anyone else ever had a seizure or anything like that?
anyone get them regularly?
it kinda freaked me out

My first mountain. Well, after Whistler in Can, but that's cheating (cable car!). Go for a mountain Samski. Olympus was easy (it is in summer anyway), anyone could do it. I can see the addictive aspect of it though. I work in an outdoor cinema bar as a temp job atm, & I spend my time between intermissions cleaning & watching the mountains behind the screen wondering when my next shot will be. I really like the remoteness.

Yeah man! I have done snowdon and various smaller ones...but i always want to go on and on and on - up into the clouds. i'm recovering from a knee operation at the mo, so a bit slow...but will be back up there full speed soon. I love the remoteness, in particular, reaching the top to find a whole new land over the other side..............i go walking for a few hours most weekends........i <3 it...................

(sorry for the minor blog hijack soft - keep us posted on those tests!)

Sure thing. We should be over on mountain411 for the time being anyway.

bloodyhell.. sorry to hear it kris, that sounds like it must have been a terrible shock. all the best with the tests.

Sam, wonder if you and any others would be up for doing the 3 peaks [snow, scafell pike, ben nevis] on a weekend, some point over summer?

@ Zanf

What? No Jetsom? *sad face* I say we aim for a Mount Olympus ascent one time too. What say you? Someone make a mountain blog so we can talk about this till the cows come home without hijacking poor soft's blog.

hey zanf, been thinking about doing it for a while sir. not sure my knee would hold up yet (but probably would) and wouldn't be too keen on doing it in one day, from an environmental perspective...but maybe i could not worry about that for once and live a little

yeah, in principal, a top idea - and very pleasant of you to ask.

After seeing the guy that was running down smowdon, rushing off to scarfell, I wouldnt be too keen to do them in one day - I did actually mean maybe a long weekend: 1 peak per day but if youre too pussy with blaming your knee then thats ok.
jetsom: get yah ass to the uk and we'll try and get a few of us.

ahaha - oh mister zanf...shame on you!

i too saw some mad twats running down snowdon, in the worst weather i have ever experienced on a walk - was really dark and slippy - nutters. i could probably do it but my knee would be grumbling after day one...would we camp? hmmmmm...the idea of a load of us doing it sounds wicked...let's start a WHO WANTS TO GO UP 3 MOUNTAINS? blog.............(not me cos [a] i might decide i can't make it anyway and [b] i am about to cycle home, and i don't have an internet connection on my bike).......

this sucks kris. gonna give you a bell this week.

@zanf - i'll be be up for the 3 peaks sometime late summer.

hey no problem ..... i love when threads go off on tangents!

it does indeed suck though. this morning i had a kinda flashback to the feeling i got just before i passed out not nice at all. all the left side of my head went into a painfull tense spazm/cramp.

pics 1, 3 & 5 are all took in more or less the same place link from the carpark at the junction of saddleworth road and new hay road.

pic 4 is from the layby on oldham road ... looking out over the valley link

and 2 is on bog green lane looking out over the huddersfield/halifax area.
