my laptop is really really crap and i didn't want vista so though 'fuck it - i'll get a mac'

the HD is only 5400 but i assume i can change it out at a later date?
i'll be adding more RAM when i have enough money too.
keeping my desktop as my main music making hub and using this as gig/road machine.
i have to say though .... it is rather sexy ;)
i need some progs though.
so i'm asking you guys... what are the essential apps?
free is obviously best but cheap is good too.
im talking anything here from image editing to dj software ... ANYTHING!!
what have i been missing out on in windoze land?

im really looking forward to going back to weimar. are falc and constantine still there? am i right in thinking you have 2 appartments now? and are you still piggybacking on the network accross the street? :D we have a choice of 2 networks, the one across the street and a better one by our next door neighbour - everyone pays 5 euro a month for access, fair deal.

completely illogical i tried to delete some files on a mac recently and realised that the delete key has no effect, oh yeah that's what backspace is for!!! aaaaw your just jealous ;)

i bought a macbook yesterday too!
Its excellent battery life and built in mic allowed me to record this during a meeting with one of my customers: link i'm figthing against the evil forces that tells me to buy a macbook pro. there is no reason to it, just this awesome solid aluminum case, the glowing apple... and, and :/ horror... ;-)

Good for you man. I'm a life-long PC user but now they're a joke aren't they? Macs got better and PC got worse. I bought a Macbook couple of months ago and I like it alot too. I just paid the $50 and $30 and got IntelMac versions of Live 5 and Reaktor 5 and got those on here. My Akoustik Piano moved over fine as well. Then bought the Korg VSTi, FM8, and Battery 3 and now I'm super-duper laptop man! YEAH! Anyway. I'll probably get Bias Peak LE at some point 'cause I have SF8 on the PC anyway.
I am afraid to install third party utility stuff although there seem to be a ton of them. Did you get that 6 months of MacWorld offer? I did and the first issue I got has a ton of great utlities. It's the August issue. Signup to comment
