--> ok, so according to the "area" portion of the site, there's 43 of us from the wisconsin area on here, and yet the only posters are he can jog, myself, and two or three "once-in-a-great-while" types. what gives? this scene won't make itself, my friends. i don't know about you, but i want to get things DONE! make some RECORDS! play some SHOWS! go out and SUPPORT! get people INVOLVED! because music is RAD! and even though i have a couple jobs and not a lot of free time i still put in the work because otherwise i would turn into a ZOMBIE! or a REPUBLICAN! i promise i'll stop writing in caps RIGHT NOW!!

phew. ok, the point is: let's do this. finish that track. send out that demo. book that show. put up those flyers. today. not next week. make more moves. if you're a wisconsinite (or chicagoan (is that a word?)), you have an opportunity to participate tonight! battles (they're on warp records) are playing tonight here in milwaukee at stonefly brewery (735 e. center st) with singer (ex 90 day men, lichens, and u.s. maple), collections of colonies of bees (memb. pele, emotional joystick, pressboard) and bts.wrkng. i promise it'll knock your socks off and you'll be glad you participated.

ok, BREAK!

so much love and hate, my my my

deltasleep said: "I don't need a scene, I just need some good food and nice people and a local brewery or two."

there's actually more than cheese here - check out the menu here for instance: link

peeps are nice - it's the midwest!

and it's milwaukee - brewerys abound, even good small scale microbrews, like the one where the battles show is taking place tonight.

theres even something of a scene

milwaukee would shit right back in your mouth. and i'd be there to help.
delta: i love it here. the music scene is great and supportive. lots of different and interesting stuff going on. it's perfect for a touring musician: centrally located in the country, so both coasts are accessible for touring; lots of really good local musicians to bounce your stuff off of; small enough city that it's easy to gain recognition if you're talented; and the minute it starts feeling too small - bam! - you're out on tour. i always say that milwaukee is a great place to come home to.

dahmer had lots of close friends...so, watch ur mouth oak boy.

but I hear it can be a little segregated, no? That's what eric told me once. Maybe I misunderstood...

Man, this makes me want to move to Wisconsin! How confusing! I had been dreaming about Portland for so long... Now what????

i had a dream it snowed last night and everzemamzah was throwing snoballs at me!??!

hteah: i made 'em all into lampshades.
fredo: segregation is the absolute worst part about the city. racial tension is a big issue here.

sage words madeofoak, sage words! props.
best thing about milwaukee..
loose m.i.a.d girls from new berlin
that street where u can smell the slaughter house and the chocolate factory, all in one vomit sponge cake breath
goerge webbs(#1)
my moms casseroles
your moms casseroles

worst thing about milwaukee
Cryptosporidium link
realizing u live there

"this tiny room
where we both live
a place to keep
our promises"

yeah racial tension is a major issue all over the midwest. People give the south hell for that, but i really don't think they've ever seen Cincinnati or Indianapolis.

But people in the midwest otherwise are much nicer than people in the southeast. In the southeast they only pretend to be nice, because their firebrand religion demands that they pretend to be nice and then attack once the person leaves. In the midwest, people don't just smile at you for no reason.

From the newspaper I browsed through, it looks like milwaukee has a lot more to do, eat, and see. I heard you have two local theaters left- one's a palace isn't it? Nashville just has it's priorities ass backwards. Nasvhville has gained something like 300,000+ people in the last 3 or 4 years, and it's not holding them well at all.

how do you feel about real estate pricing in milwaukee? job hunting?

the area i live in, a neighborhood called bay view on milwaukee's south side, is great for real estate. it's cheap now, but the market is growing due to lots of younger people (like me) moving into the area. lots of neighborhoods in milwaukee are like bay view, but there are places that aren't great for real estate too. and then there are the super nice uber-rich neighborhoods, which will always be unrealistic.
and i haven't ever had a tough time finding a job in the 6 years i've lived here. i don't think i've ever spent more than a week looking for a new job.
room: glad you like the song!

wisconsin is teh sux0rz and i hate all wisconsinites! Bloody pabst drinking chedder cheese eating casserole making farmboy hicks if you ask me. ;)

in all seriousness, though, aside from racial tensions, the roads in milwaukee really suck. My roomie has two nephews who made a road system for hotwheels cars that took up the entire room. It was a tangle of intersecting/overlapping cardboard tubes, tape, and boxes. They called it Milwaukee. Now if they made a few smaller roads off the main roads radiating out in random directions and tacked a bunch of "one way" signs on them (which later randomly change to 2 way), it'd be PERFECT.

how was battles?
