hey, i'm new to this site and austin. i've never had a sounding board to throw my stuff against so i'll soon be posting some of my old, crappy tracks. i hope you will listen to them and tell me what's wrong or what's oh so right with them. looking forward to making a few contacts together as well and possibly putting together a live thingy here in austin.
i'm super excited about this site. see you soon.

austin is great. i moved here in january from new orleans/baton rouge and i love it so far. because of the work i got myself into, i don't have much time to see the city or go out, but what i have seen is always pleasurable. it's got that small town feel in a big city. they've got this big thing here about tryint to "keep austin weird". the public transit is great, libraries are great, great music scene, lots of mexicans which means great mexican food, etc... and they've got these movie theaters where you can order a meal and beers/ wine etc. during your movie... i'm sure you'll like it.
anyways, i'll try to put some tracks up tonight or tomorrow. thanks for the responses and warm welcomes. i'll be in touch.

thanks for the Austin review, pocketsk! sounds very nice. my type of town. been reading all the articles i can find on Austin. talked to a few people about real estate. seems like it might be kinda $ to buy vs. where i'm from. you renting or own?

renting... it can be fairly expensive if you plan on living near the central area of town, but it gets cheaper the farther you go outwards. even on the outskirts it doesn't take long to get anywhere. for the most part it's easy to get around (outside of peak traffic hours), though people do drive a bit crazily here. i live in the southern area of town about 4 miles from the colorado river (here known as town lake, though i refuse to call a river a lake). found a really nice duplex with a creek in my back yard for $695/month. i guess it all depends on how long you're planning on staying in town and where you want to live. i've found most people in town to be very helpful and friendly so i imagine you won't have too many problems dealing with people. well, good luck on your move.

awesome information, pocketsk! thanks very much! $675 sounds pretty good to me. i also had no idea the colorado ran so close to austin. good tubing/rafting/canoeing i bet.
everybody's moving to austin - it will be the new portland! maybe we could even have an Austin STFU in the future? BBQ and Beatz.

i'm new so i don't know what stfu means besides shut the f*&# up, though BBQ and beatz does sound nice... and $675 is pretty rare around here, though mine was $695... i'd say the average is more around $750-800...again depending on where in town. yeah the colorado runs straight through the center of town and cleaves it in 2 and continues i believe all the way to the gulf... btw new track tomorrow or probably friday i guess would be better to wait. this time it's faster and darker. check it out

ah, meant $695.
STFU are em411 member events (i think it started out as something like "shut the beep up and play some music") at least they involve people from em411 and originated from this site. lots of other people not on em411 are involved and attend. the europeans seem to have at least 1 a month or something like that. we americans and canadians are bit more lazy. somebody can correct me if i've got my history wrong.
BBQ + Beatz would make a nice event title.
i'll check out that track!
