well done!! See, you didnt really need the luck!
From my experience, youll need these tips: the user can never define exactly what they want but expect you to be psychic enough to know. Identify [as quickly as possible] the office cunt - the person who will escalate things and put pressure to finish a job before its ready to be started, consequently fucking it up and then who will try to blame anyone but themselves for it. always walk about with a piece of paper in your hand [I do this with job sheets, even if they are days old] so no fucker will bother you or if they do, you can easily say that you are busy and have to get to this job, if you want to get away. Dont do a single piece of work for anyone unless it goes throught eh ticketing system [if they run one] as then every fucker will want to bypass it and your workload will increase tenfold but with no accountability/trackability If someone requests somehting, get them to email you and your boss - cover your ass with everything. Dont, under any circumstances, fuck the office psycho - no matter how much you may enjoy [and be a sucker for] a bit of psycho love. Bad enough at home with it at work as well. there are many more and I will post tehm during the day [Im bored at work!!] polish up on your lord of the rings trivia.
as an IT worker you'll be expected to know how many nipples gollum has. congrats! hope this one suits you better.
tips on working in IT? yeah, just ask this guy... link wicked man - worth going to the interview then
Hoooray!!!
I mean, boooo!! This sucks! I loved reading about the trials and tribulations of rifle scope covers, duck calls and fishing lures. You were my tiny window into a world I shall probably never see again. Congratulations

If they don't provide you with a decision tree of what the common problems are, try to build one yourself. It'll save all the brainwork later on when it gets really dull.
surely all you need to know is, switch off the computer, wait 5 mins and switch back on again?
Congratulations.
Advice - users never ever ever read instructions. so when something is broken it probably isn't ( pebkac: link ) I have a document from when I was on the XP migration project for this company and on one of the documents, it says to resolve a particular problem, "you need to do [one particular action] then reboot. if that doesnt work, reboot again then it should be ok".
if you don't know something ask, don't guess. even if it means that you bother someone 10 times a day in the beginning. having to contact a client to explain that what you told them isn't true sucks. also, writing a ticket about it sucks worse. and trying to get away with it and not write a ticket can suck even worse..
