so the first day of my new place I put in a window unit AC. Its working fine. The second day, it quit working. It didn't just quit blowing cold air, it didn't turn on any more. I thought it was really weird.
So a week passes and a really hot day comes around. I decide to open er up and take a look. To my astonishment, the power cord on the inside has been snipped (very evidently snipped with wire cutters not mistake) and the thermometer wire is cut as well.
I was like, SHIT I can't believe that I moved into another shady situation. After talking about it with friends, they brought up the possibility that may be my last room mate (crazy bitch) could have cut it up. At first I was like no way, it was working the first day, but then I figured it might be true cause we did have a discussion about air conditioners.
OF course I put it back together and it was working fine again. I figured not to say anything for two reasons: 1. If old bitch did it, then it would only cause stress between me and my land lord. 2. If my land lord actually cut it, then how shady is that? And why would they own up to it if I asked.
So I started noticing that if I left my fan on in my room (locked by key), that is would get turned off by the time I got home. WEIRD! huh?
Two days ago the owner of the house (Landlord) asked me if my air conditioner was working. I was like um yeah, I fixed it and its been working fine. She said "Well, I was just checking because one of the breakers blew and it busted our air conditioner." I hadn't actually turned it on for a week so I was like, well as far as I know its working fine and its also plugged through a power strip that has protection against that type of thing.
I suspected it got sabotaged again, but didn't want to check cause it would have put me in a bad fucking mood. Tonight I actually wanted to turn it on, so I pressed the on button and (not to my surprise) it didn't even light up or turn on.
Once again I take it apart to see whats wrong. More or less see how she sabotaged it this time. I figured she'd be more sly about it this time like cracking the computer chip or some thing else way more internal. HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!, but WTF! She just cut it again, right against the spot I twisted back together.
FOR REAL WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
How is some one so fucking stupid to just give away that info to me. Now I'm abit worried that some other crazy shit might go down. I'm gonna start looking for other places or possibly ask a friend to let me sleep on their couch for a month or two. FUCK them there goes their notice. I'm going to move out as secretly as possible and one day they will be like, where is the rent, shit!, where is tom? Haven't seen him for a couple of weeks.
Yeah WTF?

Talk to the other tenants, ask if they've also had problems, sounds like bad news, best to check-out.

Didn't someone on em411 once mention that a crazy landlord once walked in on someone here having sex!?
yeah, that was me. actually, it was a landlady. another time i came home early to find her kids in my room playing my Les Paul. Like, 2 5 tiny children banging and strumming my brand new guitar. then the wall got some kinda weird mould on it in the walk in cupboard which fucked up my clothes, and i moved out and she told the police i stole her curtain pole. fucking jokers.

No disrespect to Zanf, but I think it is REALLY unwise to engage in cat and mouse with somebody who is crazy and acting destructive towards you. Just disengage. Find new digs immediately. So sorry you are going through this.

true true to all of this, but fredo and squeal are right.
I think I will call a lawyer, see what he thinks.I'm pretty damn sick of people fuckin with me. I don't know NY much, but in STL people wouldn't even do such dumb ass shit, they are either considerate or worried some one might kill em.
I'll be moving after the lawyer talk.

here the tenant has the rights. my husband went to court MANY times with his psycho landlord years ago, and the tenants always won. they HAVE to give you 24 hour notice before entering your suite, and if you can prove that this is not the case you can get out of your august rent. and if you can prove she's destroying your property then you can probably get damages. wtf is true.
maybe take her to court after you have somewhere safe to sleep.....
