so it seems the previous controversy over stealing a demoscene artists work and using it uncredited in a nelly furtado album track hasnt put timbaland off using chiptunes in his work.
the new timband-produced fifty cent single 'ayo technology' (lol) prominently features the sound of tims sidstation playing arpeggaited chords as the main body of the tune. it'll be interesting to find out what the chiptunes scene think of this...
at least (i think) he's not stealing this time, tho the song is bloody awful. at least he used a good chiptune the last time.

a few days ago i heard a promo of the new percee p song (ft. diamond d and produced by madlib) and it happened to have a sampled NES beat to it too.

could this spark a new trend of chiptune sampling hiphop for the next few months? i certainly hope not!

Finally listened ... It's really bad.. So I guess Justin is the new Usher? I don't see the whole "chip" thing really. It's more of a C64 sound.. that could be done with an analog. Not that Timba uses anything but a Triton.
I just can't stand how forced this bullshit has sounded to me since... fuck ..since Missy and Timbaland back in 96/97. Beep beep .. who gots keys to the jeep.
When the fuck will shit change? Is this place real? Is everything here just a illusion and trick to slowly drive me insane? Can we ever get the fuck out of 1998? It's just so pretensious and really never stands on it's own ... none of it's "got legs" .. if you know what I mean.

I don't know what you talk about elswhere, but I've been coming here for years, and I've barely heard any conversation about timbaland until the copyright incident was blogged or posted here. and, no, simply disliking something does in fact make you prejudiced. you favor one thing over another. synonymous with bias. anyway, i know that's not what you mean, but if folks are attacking culture, which has been done in this thread, then it's prejudice. what i referred to is quite specific here in these pages. timbaland in his little speech basically called upon his status in the arena that he works in. that's all he did. and folks took offense at that in addition to his use of the chip tune. he's still producing major label artists, so it seems he still has a certain high level of respect and reputation in his industry. so to understand what he is saying, one has to understand where he is coming from. and i've read quite a few transcripts and i've listened to the recorded interiview, and i do not remember him calling anyone a "bitch". but if he did say it, and if you have verified it, then, so what? what does that have to do with you?
the guy from finland came to the public first! crying that little old him was to weak and small to fight big old timbaland and his cadre of lawyers. that he would most likely get squashed if he tried to recoup copyright royalties owed to him for the use of his chip tune. which brings me to another point: it's impossible to steal copyrighted material. one can only use copyrighted material with permission or without permission. this makes copyright infringement a civil matter, not a criminal one. anyway, if timbaland called the finnish guy a "bitch" in public, well, then the finnish guy deserved it for taking his business into the streets to begin with. he called timbaland a "thief", so timbaland called him a "bitch". if that did happen it sounds fair to me since timbaland only, apparently, used the finnish dude's track without permission.
and so all this talk about "no class" is just more prejudiced speak. but you probably don't see it that way.

djugel, what you can do is get a dictionary and read up. read one that'll make synonyms obvious to you. do you or have you had a personal relationship with timbaland? also, somebody specifically referred to "a group of gangsta wankstas". so now all black men who make hip hop are gangstas and wankstas because of something that beck said? or was that person from iceland just trying to be hip?
