--> I'm just now back in the world after several days in the CSS jungle. Things got a little crazy out there with just me and the code. I still see curly brackets when I close my eyes. The horrors... the horrors...

I finished putting up some songs on my website. I've remixed a few old songs I couldn't let go of and put them together into an EP. Basically, I chopped them from 4-5 minute songs down into 2:30 minute songs. I think they are a lot more listenable now. They kind of dragged on before. I feel like 2:30 is the magic song length for me. Thanks to jdg for mastering!

I also figured I'd get off my lazy ass and network a little bit. I've got some basic pages up at virb and myspace. I like virb. Seems like such a nice layout. I've got to say I absolutely hate working on my myspace page. I almost had a coronary trying to figure out that css and tables mess. I'm currently learning css for my job so at least it's not a total waste of time. Hopefully I'll continue to tweak the code and get better as time goes on.

oh yeah - i'm on last.fm as well now. i'm really liking that so far. great random work listening.

well it stemmed from this page i made to try and test things out:
link

that layout was from some myspace css blog i found but unfortunately i really don't remember it. so that layout is for the most part someone else's and they deserve credit i wish i could give.

that was on a personal page though and when it came time to try and figure out how to do it on a music profile (since the css inserts go in different places) i got stumped and used some of the css and modified things a lot.

anyways, here is the css:
link

3 files. 2 were used on the ejectorset page since it was a personal profile. they are name with where they go (in about me and who i'd like to meet)

the other is for the ninjastars page (the black one) all of that is what i put into band_bio. IMPORTANT when editing a band profile page be sure to use the "safe mode" link instead of "edit profile". i don't know why, but i do remember reading that a lot when i was researching this.

that is exactly what is edited into those profiles. there are a lot of things that i dont know why it does certain things. it was a total accident that i got the comments to line up over on the right under my stuff on the ninja stars page for example. i think it was because i hid the friends table.

also if you like the "contact" links i used on the ejectorset page instead of the normal contact table that can totally be done on a band profile too. i got feedback from some people that are very myspace literate though and were emailing me and asking how to add us as a friend though so i went back to using the contact table. good consistant user interface design, don't make me think, etc.

i doubt you have a long way to go. i am still pretty n00b at css and did that months ago. if you have a basic understanding of css you will probably understand it more than i did at the time. i just spent a lot of time tweaking it and reloading the page to see what it did.

i'll look through my bookmarks too, i think i had found a page that explained the element breakdown in a normal myspace page and what classes and ids they are already using that you need to override. that helps a lot. hopefully i saved it. still myspace is a very badly design piece of junk and horrible to try to work around.

virb really is nicer right from the start isn't it!

oh and if you use the contact links be sure to edit the a href tags. im pretty sure on that ejectorset page they are just set to #. just copy/paste the urls from your existing contact table, obviously.

oh yeah, i'm loving virb. very easy on the eyes from the get go.

thanks for all the info man, i REALLY appreciate it! i just saved my source down from my profile and will try and tweak the hell out of it in dreamweaver. i'm sure i will use some of your code too if i hit a wall.

i'm going to try figure most of it out myself though, because believe it or not it's been a great learning experience ramping up these virb and myspace pages. i would never code an xhtml page the way they've coded myspace of course, but it's been great for seeing some css tweaks in action.

ah, hmmm. thanks for the tip on the safe-mode thing. i had no idea what that was for.

this has got me excited about redesigning my own site over the next few months. hopefully that'll go a bit smoother.

thanks again for the help!

If I haven't mentioned it enough in the past. your illustrations are awesome.

Its not bad but ditto curly braces in my sleep... nice tunes. lovely.

sarrass, thanks. it's a brave new networking world i guess. i'm trying to get into it. as much as an introvert can at least.

damn. i just deleted a bunch of questions by mistake in virb. if you are somebody hath asked me a question, pelase accept my humblest apologies for not returning thy email.
