--> Received my Monome DIY kit today. I am extremely excited!!! Brian and Kelli road their bicycles over to my apartment and delivered the package in person. Really cool of them to do. It shows that they obviously care about the environment by avoiding the mail as well as automobiles. Great people!!!

Anyhow, the LEDs haven't arrived in the mail yet but at least I can have the logic board built and ready while I wait.

wow, that is awesome that they personally delivered it. have fun!

does anyone else hate the environment/

LOL @flies

I hate the environment thats created when people go on about the environment. Dont these people know that passive moaning kills?

Cool! Are you going to document the "making of" your monome?

Yes, I plan on documenting the entire process even the make shift temporary cardboard enclosure. Eventually the entire thing will go into a larger enclosure with a MIDIbox64 kit so cardboard is the way to go. :-)

what can this thing do?

There's one thing they seem to have forgotten in their "environmental" view. . . by charging so damn much for a box full of buttons, theyre forcing all us slaves to work the carbon-spewing factories even harder than before!

LEDs are here. Tomorrow morning bright and early these LEDs will be on bright and early.

mongo, a few things: link

I've been really curious about the Monome. I have very little experience building electronic kits. Would this be a difficult project? Do you have experience witrh kits like the Monome?

The kit wasn't that hard actually. So far I have only built the logic board. At first I couldn't get it to recognize so I put off building the keypad part. Through trial and error I discovered that the USB driver was installed wrong. The logic board only took a few hours to solder together. This was my first kit other than previous circuit bending experience.
