--> me dear old mammy has recently retired from her job as a teacher.
she gave me some money to spend on "something constructive"

i bought a bagpipe chanter and a new camera.

chanters are fun.
people use them to practice bagpipery type tunes.
they only cost about £6
they sound good if you take the top off and play the reed with yer mouth.

i bought a new Charles Mingus release, a live thiing from '64 with Eric Dolphy
its awesome.
ive been having fun pretending to be a free-jazz player.

sweeeet! ;)

LOL

my wife says

"are you listening to jazz?"

OMG we have the same hairline, more or less!

Twinners!!

I've said it once, and I'll say it again, the chanter is the most beautiful sounding instrument in the world.

I've got one too... they give you one at your birth in Nova Scotia Canada.

Ha... I have one too.... hahahahahahahahaha

Next up, some guy slowly letting the air out of a balloon by pulling on the sides of the neck..

that's the secret of free jazz! you can't pretend how to play it:D

that mingus/dolphy stuff is the pinnacle of human civilization
^that's ambiguous, but what i meant was, you are playing free jazz. LOOK MA NO HANDS!

before i went to bed i discovered if i stick the reed in the other end it sounds better.
i will post more!

just add ego!

ha. i watched that youtube-vid and suddenly there where ducks hitting against my window.

brillianrt.

That sound gives me flashbacks. I played the bagpipes from the age of 8 to 10. I still have two child-size practice chanters and a goose. You gotta get the goose to learn the breathing, then you can get full bagpipes and feel the power of drones.

And don't forget jazz bagpiper Rufus Harley:

I took one lesson from a guy named Mr. Longstaff... forgot about that! He was 90.
