--> me dear old mammy has recently retired from her job as a teacher.
she gave me some money to spend on "something constructive"

i bought a bagpipe chanter and a new camera.

chanters are fun.
people use them to practice bagpipery type tunes.
they only cost about Ł6
they sound good if you take the top off and play the reed with yer mouth.

i bought a new Charles Mingus release, a live thiing from '64 with Eric Dolphy
its awesome.
ive been having fun pretending to be a free-jazz player.

that's damn funny

if you do decide to get a full set of pipes, go Uilleann - no offence to the Scots, but the Highland pipes were designed to strike fear into people's hearts, and they're very effective for that purpose. but the Irish took the pipes and actually made music with them.
