well, i saw the epic 2.5 hour Superman Returns 2 days ago. it was pretty good, although the original superman from 66' (maybe) with word bubbles i find more enjoyable.
and i enjoyed the whole lois lane's kid being superman's kid.

yeah, I saw it too. It was pretty good. Definitely not as entertaining as the first or second Superman movies, but fun. And some of the effects were fantastic. I found the beginning a little confusing though. (Wow, I must be dumm!)

i thought it was pretty good. i'd give it a solid 7/10. my wife wasnt' impressed - she'd never seen any of the first superman movies, so had no idea what was going on. i didn't realize it was picking up were the last film left off. i thought it was going to be a retelling of the original film.

from what i understand, it actually ignores the 3rd and 4th movies, minisystem. which is an interesting (and probably good) choice, richard pryor notwithstanding.

i thought it was cute like an 80's movie.
i do miss margot kidder, though-this lois was a bit of a dud for me. it's a bit harder of a story to swallow now the cold war is over (i guess were kind of in cold war #2 against islam, though), but it was fun to see joe eyebrows reincarnate chris reeve's "dopey farmboy turned passive-agressive intern wundergeek"

I thought it was very classy. I was surprised how well Brandon Routh did as Superman; in still pictures he looks too boyish but on the big screen he carries the torch from Christopher Reeve with aplomb. That said, I miss Reeve's Clark Kent, his "knows-more-than-he-lets-on" clumsy dork performance was definitive I thought. There wasn't enough Clark Kent in the new movie for my taste. All in all it was more dark that I expected, I went in hoping for "rollicking" and got "ponderous" that was a bit of a let down for me.

Suprisingly entertaining film. Reeve's superman is a lot better, but then again it could be a case of nostalgia. Routh doesn't quite emote enough, and that's strange considering the length of the film. Rightly though they chose not to use the smallville superman. Kevin spacey doesn't quite do lex as well as gene hackman though.

"it doesn't matter, it can't happen."
"why not? it's bound to come up."
"it's impossible, lois could never have superman's baby. do you think her fellopian tubes could handle the sperm? i guarentee he blows a load like a shotgun right through her back.
what about her womb? do you think it is strong enough to carry his child?"
"sure, why not?"
"he's an alian for christ sake. his kriptonian biological makeup is enhanced by eart's yellow sun. if lois gets a tan the kid could kick right through her stomach. only someone like wonderwoman has a strong ehough uterus to carry his kid. the only way he could bang regular chicks is with a kriptonite condom. that would kill him."
