--> whilst dicking about in the irc with ricemutt, we started talking about ratios for some stupid reason, and we gave me the stupid idea to make this patch-

it started with the blocky sounds of this:

which is four notes:

2/4,3/4,4/4,5/4

changing first to

3/4,4/4,5/4,6/4

and then to

3/5,4/5,5/5,6/5

and so on.

he gave me the idea to somehow find a way to do it smoothly, and these sounds were born:

notice how they merge towards a singular pitch each time. nuts

its like im watching irreverisble

omg! its tonal sea floor spreading!

btw, explain. what is note = 5/5 ?

it'd be the same as 1/1, the ratios are calculated from a hypothetical 1/1 that isnt heard

i mean, it is heard, but as 4/4, 5/5 etc

those sounds are pretty amazing... I'm really surprised how awesome they sound with such a simple sequence. Now figure out how to write some musc with that madness!

oh by the way, you're a wanker! ;)

really great shit...

and it would be cool to try other arithmetic manipulations, too, besides just simple addition... I mean, the sky's the limit. I'm tempted to fart around with this... oh, no, off the deep end!

I love how in the chords with the long glide there are brief moments of western harmony, yet they slide away before you can really fully bite into them.... good shit, you mad scientist you!
I heard a couple of my favorite songs in those samps

wow.. that last one is quite amazing.

it's a sort of mind clearing meditation in harmony.

stunningly beautiful

what app made that sono? i want it.

spectre by audiofile engineering

that's freakin nuts!
