whilst dicking about in the irc with ricemutt, we started talking about ratios for some stupid reason, and we gave me the stupid idea to make this patch-
it started with the blocky sounds of this:

which is four notes:
2/4,3/4,4/4,5/4
changing first to
3/4,4/4,5/4,6/4
and then to
3/5,4/5,5/5,6/5
and so on.
he gave me the idea to somehow find a way to do it smoothly, and these sounds were born:

its a bit confusing when its written as 2/4 and 4/4 instead of 1/2 and 1/1
i thought notes n that were ALL about ratios (seems a much more natural way of writing it to me than a,b,c# and all that shit)

i chose 2/4 3/4 4/4 5/4 because it's an easier group to percieve than 1/2 3/4 1/1 5/4, and also because, to do the manipulation, they had to start with the common bottom number

yes, the ratios are an implied relationship with an arbitrary fundamental pitch
take that information out, and the other pitches still relate to each other, but not in such an easily displayable way.
