--> Oh jesus, the label has got me into my very first festival. Thought I would announce it here as it's in Europe and I know many folks from Europe. If you can make it it would be so much fun to see you there...

I'll be playing at the Transmusicale festival in Rennes, France on December 6th, in the Parc Expo Hall 4. I have no idea, nor do I want to, how large a crowd there will be. Hopefully this will be one of the smaller exhibition spaces, because thoughts of this event fill me with nausea, shivers and also a solid dose of real excitement.

The fact of the matter is that I have only performed twice so far, so I will be working my ass off to find some gigs between now and then. I think I need at least 6 to feel comfortable doing this. Good grief!

Also, I am following a band called "The View" who sound to be a bit Punk. UGH! What were they thinking? So any ideas of what song I should start to follow this would be much appreciated, any of you who know my music. Or even just some abstract advice like... start with a really fast one, or do the opposite, start with your softest...

I'm going to try to get the time info from my manager and update this blog. Hope to see some of you there!

awesome, fredodo! Congratulations. I was waiting for this moment...

As far as following The View, no worries. If it's like most festivals, people gravitate to different stages for different shows, so it's not necessarily the same crowd that was there for the band that played before you, when you go on. I know at Austin City Limits festival I stage hopped all over the place, sometimes mid-show, to catch the bands I wanted to see.

I would start with something strong though, just to pique people's interest, as there will be all types there, and you want them to stick around.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll generate tons of new fans.

noice. you'll be great. just do your thing. forget about who plays before you or after you. i'm sure what you do will resonate w/people there. that's what's great about festivals.. no one expects to hear the same kind of music for the entire event.

you're going to stop them in their tracks with that voice of yours. just trust yourself.

umami's comment reminded me of this.

fredo, you godlike stud, this is awesome. You will fuck their shit up.

if your're playing 6 before then, I will definately be able to make atleast one of them, let me know. And congrats on the big gig!

Thank you kindly folks.

I will definitely let you know, hv9. I just started doing open mics, did my first last night, which I really enjoyed. I'll let you know if there's one in nyc. I should probably look around brooklyn for some open mics. My manager is working on getting me an agent to set up some proper gigs...
break a leg, fredo!

i'm sure someone already said it, but make sure you video it! with audio straight from the mixer also of course.

you can post it to em411's soon to be happening video section!

: )
it's the biggest festival in west france, I watched kraftwerk there, missed beastie boys... nirvana played there. for the last 3, 4 years they carried it to airport hangars and bands play in 3 connected hangars, each transformed into a different atmosphere...

last year (or 2 years ago : /) it was something like one big hangar for rock (primal scream, juliette lewis etc.) one smaller for a bar and a hiphop, rockhop, hop hop etc and another for... i don't know... a grungy band was playing and when I get back to that one it was dj champion... and another hangar for 2 djs and a chillout zone... weird decoration and people smoking, drinking everywhere...

the band that plays before you doesn't matter much as people are always on the move and stay only if you hypnotize them
they won't be listening to you after the punk band, they will be listening to you while there are 2 djs playing in the next hangar, some rock band playing in another one, bars here and there, and some rappers somewhere else... do your own thing and make sure people remember your name the day after even though they're drunk like a beer bottle... no other people drinks like breton... maybe irish or scotts?

that festival was always more about "not famous bands" leaving a trace or making a name

I saw dj champion there for the first time, while I was walking around with wine glasses in hand... was stuck... stayed there till he stopped playing. went there to listen to primal scream but came out as a fan of dj champion and as somebody who would never go to a primal scream concert again.
yeah, beautiful people and rock'n roll attitude but they were having fun more then ANYBODY ELSE in the hall + the sound was awful

so... go to bretagne and make some more fans there
as there will already be a couple of fredo fans in the hall

awesome, man. Now I feel like shitting myself.

Ha, well hopefully I will be able to be a little at least joyfully nervous.

See you there, man. Please introduce yourself after the show! I think dis is going to be there too, do you know him?

sssssshhhh : )
you'll get dust banned again

hehehe, I thought so!

If you have it in the budget and need any touring musicians just like the song: "I'll be there."

Your gonna blow there minds man!!! Don't be scared, be exited!!! Make sure you surround yourself
with real friends and not ppl who want something else, I'm sure you will spot those clowns though.
