--> I got into med school! LSU New Orleans wooooooooooot! (^_^)b

Any of you guys in/made it through med school? (Or any other really tough grad program?) I really want to keep music as an important part of my life (both my personal allthatfall project and my work with Erik on LuvSound.Org , and I was wondering if any em411 peeps had advice for me.

Thanks for your thoughts!

great news. isn't it really really expensive?

my wife is doing her residency in psychiatry right now. she finished med school about a year and a half ago. it kept her crazy busy. days would go by and i wouldn't see her. it was great for getting music done!

laff all you want. We'll see who's laffing when my atomic mutant wombats destroy your bakery.

PS, congranulations!!!
I did music all through grad school... not always a lot, but you gotta absolutely have something outside of school to keep you grounded and have some perspective.

congrats!

I'm a "real" doctor who got through med school, residency, and two fellowships, and survived. It's ironic though because now I spend all my time doing research.. so I guess I'm trying to be a "fake" doctor like MLbot. hahaha

anyway, don't worry, you'll have tons of time in med school to make music. In fact, if you're like I was you'll spend a lot of your time making tracks. I made music all through med school and residency and found time to play a lot of shows and collaborate with a ton of really great people.

My advice- buy lots of gear with your med school loans. I did and it worked out fine

HOLY BITMARCH SIGHTING

POST SOME MUSIC, Dr. STUPID

I've been able to get more music made during grad school than when I wasn't in grad school, even though the hours (work+school) are much longer. If you like what you're doing, you'll have lots of energy to be creative in the time you aren't at work/school. If you hate what you're doing, you'll just sit around and read em411.

There are about 90 hours in the week when you aren't sleeping, eating, showering, commuting, on the toilet, etc. Before, when I was working at a job I hated, I spent 35 hours at work and most of the rest sulking. Now that I'm in school (for a subject I love), I'm working about 60 hours a week and spending the rest on my loved ones and music.

So so awesome dude!! I've shared my congrats, but i'll echo them here.

Now get to work inventing a way for me to live to 300 years with laser eyes! ;-)

Thanks for the input, guys! I myself have done a bit of grad school (I got a master's in genetics), but I think med school's going to be on another order of magnitude all together. It's definitely good to hear from peeps like bitmarch, though... I'm just going to have to MAKE SURE that there's time for music, even if the first year might be a bit insane. (O_o)~

I'm interested alternately in Neonatology and Cardiology... so maybe I'll end up doing Pediatric Cardiology? No idea... I think the common wisdom out there is that you never really know what field you're going to go into.

(^_-) Lol @ Dr. Luv, btw

best line ever..

proctology! proctology!

well done, etc
