Ahh good news!

I'm still waiting to see what's going to come of this ableton / cycling74 partnership.

yea this looks good. i'm interested in the 'presentation mode' they speak of...

unlimited undo is nice too!! little handy things like that are so key.

thanks. interesting, perhaps i'll finally give it a proper try.

woof, that looks neato. I kind of hope it doesn't look all candy coated, though. I've been learning isadora recently for an upcoming project, and one of the things I've missed about max/msp/jitter is the rough and rugged look of the patcher. I like that it doesn't look like a candy coated toy, but I suppose we all must make sacrifices ;)

and a zoom in/out function...yes

and waiting for ages until there's a working pluggo version, ouch. though i think that may have to do with the ableton/cycling partnership..

great news otherwise!

wow! great news! The inlet-menu thing seems to make things much easyer.

looks like max 4 to 5 is like sc 2 to 3...
i hate upgrades, because it takes a year or so for me to get used to it, but this one looks good.
some features i'm not sure if i'm going to like, but i like the direction to linux.
i'm ready to go linux when max is ready...
sounds cool.
maybe i'll finally get into max/msp/jitter!

I always thought of max as like working in a textbox.. but that I'd have to place a textbox, write in it, and then connect it together afterward.

For every one thing I wanted to do, it seemed like I had to do three.

multiple undo!!!

max/msp??? are you guys scientists?

wow and wow. i might actually buy max now.

Question @ Max experts: Is this feasable to create in max--

A device that is essentially a midi triggered drum machine with (say) 16 sample slots. But, the device accepts an audio input. It monitors the transient information in the incoming audio, auto-slices it on the transients, and auto-maps the 'slices' to its slots (in a simple way, say just by targetting the next slot each time a new slice is stored).

My hunch is that it should be possible to build in Max, but, am i right?

yes, that should be possible.
