--> Not to sure about this yet. It seems that it doesnt quite know whats its doing either.

Is it a quick and easy method to keep track of peoples blogs/release/events/gigs/etc or is it like the myspace/friendster collecting network system?

If it was just for tracking blogs and releases you like, then why the necessity for the person you are adding to 'approve' you as a friend? Surely, if you just want to track someones activity then the old buddy system was the better path to take.

I cant help but feel its sort of trying to include the MySp system while retaining the functionality of the old buddy system, which admittedly, didnt extend beyond being able to emmail quickly, check online status and click to visit their homepage but coulkd have easily been expanded similar to what we have now but without the MySp'iness of it.

What if I want to follow someones activity but not necessarily be added as a friend? Maybe they dont want to be friends but I still want to be able to quickly check their releases?

Im sort of not to sure about the reciprocation of the system. If it was a tracking feature then why the friendster networking side of it? (On the thread about the new site features, this is how it was sold to me)

tmns, yes, that makes sense. Initially the friends system was setup that way, but I changed it because I was concerned about people spamming others for friendship. I guess it might happen, but it'd be limited. I'll go ahead and set it up that way.

same situation with flickr as well.

I've now got it setup so that accepting/rejecting isn't necessary. You just send a friend request and that person will automatically be on your list. You'll still get notices if somebody adds you to their list, allowing you to quickly add them as well.

edit: thank jessus s s s s . . . I am more fond of the old em411 "buddy system"... anyone else ever use that?

thanks a lot B.

you have a lot of friends zanf.
