--> I'm just putting out my labels first release and I've been thinking of doing a couple of free-to-download compilations to follow it. That was the idea, originally, mainly free stuff but that didnt work out for the first one.

I wanna approach these two free compilations the same way as I would a paid for release with PR being undertaken, review copies being sent out and as much publicity for the label and the artists involved being done as possible.

So, Ordio Records would like to invite you fine EM people to become involved in two instrument-themed releases, one themed around the Hammond organ and one themed around the Mellotron.

In both cases, I'd like to put out a collection of tracks inspired by those instruments, and primarily made up using sounds, samples, VSTI clones or whatever from either the Mellotron or the Hammond. Melodic is my favourite, but I'll take anything can get.

What's in it for you? You're in a cool compilation (hopefully), youll get some PR and I'll put links to whatever you want from the record companies sites and a bio and pics on there too.

Anyone fancy it? I'd love if this came off. I'm thinking to do one first, depending on what the interest is in doing either instrument, then release other other one after - or do it as a (fake) 2 disc release with one 'side' being one thing and the other being another.

thanks peeps!

yes, i'd say it does. pm'd!

started a track today using the jp hovercraft samples, tapeworm and some processed drumloops.. i'll upload it when its done.

nice idea.

Hey! I don't have hammond and I'm not going to use any vst's or au's. Would it also count if I'd do a track with a Yamaha organ from 70s which has a built in drummachine?

anybody got hammond samples? i'd love to do some drone stuff with'em....

nice track krushing, laid back like the best of matthew herbert, would fit well on one of his dj mixes.

sounds fun!

if you open the hammond one up to be organs with built in drum machines i would be down too. i have an old vox 8480 organ, 3 key beds, bass pedals, built in drums. doesn't sound anything like a hammond, but its fun. doesn't even have an audio out of any kind. gotta mic it up.

also if you ever did a rhodes one i would do that too. i have a rhodes. they sonic possiblities of those are much more than you usually hear them used for.

don't have a hammond or a mellotron though. had some mellotron samples, are you allowed to add beats?

The rules are: whatever, I dont mind! These compilations are meant to be a tribute to or inspired by the Hammond and the Mellotron, but you dont necessarily have to use them. For example, if you use the flutes in Garageband and play chords what that instrument, it sounds a bit Mellotron-y. Whatever you all think fits the bill is cool with me (unless, obviously, you just use a bongo drum or a shaker or something, thats a bit TOO left of the concept ;) )

I will make a track for this.

What is the deadline?

just finished my hammond track - i'll you send it to you

since sparks hammond clones link is cranky, i'll repost two of its links to free hammond vsti's

Spark, thanks for the links. Deadline, maybe a couple of months? I dunno, its pretty loose right now.

Autistici: just getting it now, thanks mate! You're teh fasts!!!

ok - this one did'nt come so easy - it took a lot longer and is less compelling

but i guess i just love the mellotron sound it virtually wrote itself

i'll give one a go.

Does link work? It's got a mellotron in there and a faux organ. I actually have a song about Hammond organs with samples from a "Learning to Play the Hammond Organ" 45 that I have. I'll up it when I get a chance this weekend. I'll upload some samples from the 45 too, in case anyone else want to give it chop.
