--> Just a blog to let you know that tantan is all right and he's at home now, starting the slow process of healing his broken leg. So I decided to post this get well blog for him so you all can wish him better.

What happened? Well, we were all meeting up at Vita cafe, as part of a em411 real life meetup with Deltasleep. As we were talking, Tantan said he felt nauseous and basically passed out. Ignatius made a valiant effort to catch him but it all happened way too fast - I'm just glad he managed to prevent him from banging his head.

Unfortunately, the way he landed he broke his leg up both at the knee and ankle. Mapmap called an ambulance for him and we tried to make him comfortable. Anyhow, the ambulance came quickly and took him away. We managed to get hold of Connie (his wife), and she took it from there. He now has a thigh high fiberglass cast and they think it's going to be three months for recovery. Fortunately, he can telecommute from home starting next week.

Why did he pass out? Evidently nausea can trigger the vagus nerve, which can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. They kept him at the hospital for a couple nights on a heart monitor, but they think he has a sensitive vagus nerve (why does it sound dirty when I type that?)

Anyhoo, I'm glad he didn't die, and I hope you are too.

Ive heard Tanner is so tall that it takes the sunlight only 6minutes to reach him.

LOL

goodone

I have the feeling that he is using this as an excuse not to come to the uk for work for a bit. He must really not like St Albans! ;)

Has anyone spoke to Tan today at all? How is he & his partner bearing up?

Haven't talked with them today yet...but we had a long chat yesterday.

Connie did note there are a lot of things that she hadn't thought about when you break your leg...such as what kind of underwear to wear...

last time i woke up in hospital i realised i hadnt put any underwear on

get better soon tanned trannie

Hey Doodz! This thread made my day. :-)

I'm laying on my couch stoned on Oxy running Golden Girls on the telly, so things aren't so bad, I guess. ;)

Here's the scoop:

* Iggy may have saved my life, so like Chewbacca I now owe him a life debt and will copilot his starship anytime.
* Em guys are amazing. Rarely have I seen such an outpouring of concern and effort and fuss over someone's welfare, and I really, really appreciate it.
* Delta and wife are good peoples and I'll be happy to welcome them here.
* So yep, I'm basically housebound for three months! I get to use an old people walker to get around the house, wear extra large boxers, and sit in a plastic chair while I shower. Also, my mom bought me a rubber suit for my cast to protect it from shower water. Seriously.

* Fainting spell was totally bizarre. Since they've so far found nothing heart related that seems to be the culprit, it may very well have been the nausea as Roshi explained. But, I still have a few tests to do, to make sure it wasn't something else.
* I used to have extra high calcium levels, so I also wonder why the leg was so busted up from this little fall!

Okey, pooping out now. Thanks again for the kind wishes!

Get well man!
feel better dude! If the vita cafe doesnt give you a free meal, sue. ;)

"pooping out now"
lol I know just that painkiller feeling!
And we really thought the em crowd were nice people, too. It was so nice of you to show us around, that neighborhood was our favorite part of the trip!
I really though you were dead when you fell over! Your pulse at your wrist was so faint! Jim is a good guy to have around in an emergency.
Equally nice of Ted to drive us around.
I felt like I'd known all of you for a long time. Can't wait to get back together again. I'll keep you all posted about our move!
Oh and tanner, from personal experience, treat painkillers like a loaded gun! I got hooked once before I even knew it, and withdrawals are horrible! I wish somebody had told me that it happens to people who don't mean to get hooked!

I thought one of the side effects of painkillers was that it keeps the poop in. ;)

also, im in the mood for a foot race. anyone else?

As a doctor*, I have concluded Tantan is allergic to nerds.

*not a real doctor

i passed out once into two huge black men and they cushioned my fall. when I awoke i was on a bar floor and my friend was over me getting the waiter to bring more ranch dressing for his hot wings...

tantan godspeed towards recovery!

I once had a bike wreck and passed out. I laid on the ground bleeding for 10 minutes while people walked by- walking around me on the sidewalk. then finally, somebody called campus security.
All I heard was "WHOA SHIT! HAHAHA" before I blacked out.
Apparently, people who know what to do in an emergency are in short supply on my campus. If only I could have had a bike wreck into the em-meetup, it would have been so much better.
