--> So i just woke out of a dead sleep and was having the most wonderful dream......(and you were there and you were there and even you Otterfan!)

In the dream i was working at some sort of music software dot.com which is not too far from my past since i have worked for a dot.com and have worked for a certain musical hard ware conglomerate that probably all of you have heard of....

But anyway in the dream the music.com job (I think it was MOTU) had a lot of really techtastic hottie code crunching ladies working at the office looking for fine in their glasses and the first half of the dream was me getting to meet and know them.

Suddenly the dream shifted like dreams do and the music.com was sponsoring a musical competition just like a laptop battle except you got a whole table and a power strip to set up as much gear as you could within a certain amount of time. There also seemed to be a rule that you could only use mixers of a certain kind or size, i used a radio shack dj mixer so I think it was to make sure you had a limit to channels. The third thing that was of course TOTALLY WEIRD was that as part of the competition you had to cook a dish to pass as part of the pot luck and do it while you set up. (HEY it's My dream okay?)

So for my entry i was cooking a chicken/cornbreadcoated/egplant concoction and setting up a laptop, a few racks, a drummachine and a few Casio sk's. Both the cooking and the setup are not the way i would go in real life but hey, aren't all dreams this way? Of course there was the usual subplots in my dream. People i don't like were observers for the compettion, my brother who i am currently fighting with came to wish me luck, a hottie from work was also entering, Movie Director John Waters was a judge and was there with his mother talking about the wonders of Baltimore. There was a setup time that ended and afterwards all the competitors met behind stage and in order to reduce all the egoes, the judges and our fellow competitors chose and suggested goofy nicknames for us to compete under. I think mine was Global Underware.

..and then just as there was time to tweek the setup for the show and I was getting a chance to put the headphones on to see if my setup even made sound...I woke up. Dammit!! i didn't get to hear any MUSIC.

So the dream has me furiously typing here at 4:30 am before i have to wake up my hottie techtastic girlfriend to go setup at the MIT FLEA market, cause i can't get to sleep for the half hour and because i figured out the meaning of the dream.

I had at one time planned to have an electronic music night for us types to get together and shoot the shit at some place, maybe even cook for y'all and at the same time I have desperately wanted to enter an electronic music competition or just regular showcase night like the laptop battle although i really don't like the idea of just being allowed to use only a laptop since i am always a little lite on using software live.

So Is anyone in New England Up for anything like this? I know AS220 in Providence used to have a monthly EM type showcase but i don't know where that went. Does anyone else know of any events like this that are at least monthly of do i have to start making my own? I know y'all on this board are mostly PDX area but we in New England really need something like this.

Any feedback or suggestions on boards to cross post let me know.

i love musi tech dreams. I dreamt about a synth with a tv in it years ago. I think they have made it now.

I guess I must have missed any em411 dream threads.

I've had one involving someone from em411: Filarion was in it (and Move D). I was in Move D's studio which looked like an impressive 90s-futuristic souped-up boy racer studio. When he started talking to me, I couldn't understand anything so just said, 'Oh, that's nice'. Then Filarion dropped by and kind of went 'meh' (at me!).

I want to have an exciting dream tonight.
