OMG dude i thought that was the weakest family guy episode ever!

seriously?
the only episode that's better than this is the one with osama bin laden in the beginning.

wow. an hour long star wars parody? seth mcfarlane must be stopped.

I have such low expectations for anything Seth McFarlane does... I do this so I can find some way of enjoying it,....

there... god I love the Steve Sax plotline...

I'm with djugel. It's really weird, I can laugh at just about anything but when it comes to Seth McFarlane, it just doesn't work. Ever. Sometimes I watch the Family Guy in this kind of weird awe at this parallel world where that stuff is funny, but I start to feel sad after a while. Like a gay guy at a titty bar.

i thought the southpark episode with the manatees said it best. And damn me if that isn't the best oblique strategies ever.
Loved that southpark. I enjoy family guy the way I enjoyed cartoons as a kid. Theres no moral, no point, almost no plot. It's totally stupid, and sometimes when you work with kids you need some totally stupid, totally mean humor.

i don't know about that. I'd like to think i'm a pretty well adjusted kind of guy, and i grew up with a little g-force, thundercats, visionaries, etc ... but the explosion of shows like mighty morphin power rangers, barney, spongebob, and the rest, it's like a day glo nightmare of fight fight fight. i'm saying this from the perspective of seeing some young 'uns out there being real a-holes and seeing my wife have to deal with the teenage results.

i think the level of mean-ness is appropriate for young adults, who can differentiate that it's not supposed to be like that in real life or rather it's appropriate for people who can do that regardless of age.

It's also like that episode, chinpokomon & the one with the deadly ninja weapons rolled into one.

Fucking LOL every 2 seconds. I've seen it twice now. The Han Solo part in the death star "everything's ok...we're ok here....you?" was hilarious but that part is funny no matter what.

I think the big thing for me is that they are trying SO hard to be funny. Like there is nothing subtle about it at all. There's two modes: it hangs onto a particularly unfunny joke for WAY too long, like 30 seconds after I'm thinking "OK, I fucking GET IT already", or it keeps reaching for one cheap laugh after another like an attention starved 8 year old. I guess humor requires a little character and plot development for me.
Also, there's no love in Family Guy. With humor you have to sacrifice something for it to really work, be a little vulnerable. Family guy just makes cheap cracks at whatever it can get its hands on and it comes off superficial, cold and petty. Bullyish, at its worst.

it's just one of those comedies you like or don't. there's really no room for inbetween. the fact that there is no subtly or grace and that they go too far is what's funny to me. I will agree that it worked better when the show was younger because now it's part of the schtick. I still enjoy it though.

i dunno... i t hink that family guy is way better than simpsons, south park and all that...
i find south park so much less subtle and funny. and i'm already so sick of simpsons. they've been around for toooooo long.

my favourites are

-drawn together (wrong)
-family guy (funny)
-ren and stimpy show (crazy)
-dave the barbarian (stupid)
-salad fingers (weird)
-futurama (satiric)
-simpsons (uplifting)
-south park (ethical)
