--> so i had a great little find in a junk shop the other day.a collection of 'The Great Musicians ' - a 48 record collection of the worlds greatest composeres.each record has 3-4 peices by the musician on a 10" and a booklet with history of him at the time of the peice and some music theory etc.the performances are from the Royal Symphony Orchestra in 1966.it's kinda over whelming, the artists included are
bach,
beethoven
berlioz,
brahms,
chabrier,
chopin,
corelli,
delibes,
dvorak,
franck,
grieg,
handel,
haydn,
mendelssohn,
monterverdi,
mozart,
pergolesi,
schubert,
tchaikovsky,
wagner,

i really wanna sample these records and use them with effects to make music or to add textures to music i have already done but i'm really ignorant about classical music.the first classical piece i ever really liked was beethoven's moonlight sonata '.

so im asking you guys to offer some songs i might like from these artists.

kinda music and mood i like are melancholic to sleepy,
bands like this i like are stars of the lid, arvo part, quite a bit of drone type stuff like william basinski, tim hecker, labradford, etc.

electronic stuff i really like is alvo noto, fennesz, four colour, growing, chihei hatakeyama.

as i said it's a bit overwhelming to have this much stuff to go through, all for £5.

amazing repsone from you folks, will have to get some lunch before i can take all this in.

if you enjoy arvo pärt you'd probably like morton feldmann aswell.

I don't like Takemitsu. Go figure. If you want really dreamy listen to Benjamin Britten's Nocturnes. mmmmmmm....

kcr -
'Delibes is probably the best find...
Not a very famous composer, but really good one.
i wonder what pieces you have there.'

you're not wrong, the minimum records per artist is approx 3 with beethoven getting 10 records to himself but Delibes has only 1 record in the collection.
'coppelia' 'sylvia' and 'lakme'.

Leonid -
i've been into Henryk Góreck for a little while, sorrowfull songs is preaty heavy shit.
i'll defo check out the The Kronos Quartet,Benjamin Britten's Nocturnes and
morton feldmann.

i'm thiking alot of this stuff could go through that paulstretch app.

some of it doesn't need the paulstretch, hell Nocturnes sounds already paulstretched at times! haha.

Hikikomori - have you heard Akira Rabelais -Spellewauerynsherde ? --- This would probably be in the vein of music you dig.

(P.S. as a shameless plug - my last release on here was an attempt at some dreamy/floaty melancholic music)
