--> A close friend of mine have severe G.A.S. and I don't know how to help him!? He just makes jokes when I try to talk to him about it. The other day he called me about an ad for an Akai S1000 keyboard version. Those of you old enough know that this thing is huge as a dinner table and that compared to almost any computer based sampler it's not that extraordinary. (It was excellent 15 years ago though)

My friend have been like this as long as I have known him (+10 years). I think he has owned (and sold of course) almost every electronic instrument known to man. Not a Roland system 100 but that is only because he never managed to save up enough money.

I don't need to comment on his chances of ever getting a GF or the fact that he hasn't made a song in more than five years.

It's so sad and I feel sorry for him...

I still get the gearsies when something new comes out. I try and force myself to save money if I want something, not buy it on credit. That way I have a "waiting period" and by the time I actually buy, I know I want it.

Though I still find it hard when I have to buy something like cables and power supplies that are definitely not as sexy as buying some new noise-making hardware.

That's it, I'm inventing Sexy Cables and Sexy Power Supplies

Too easy, especially with 1/4 inch cables.

You think 1/4" is sexy?

You, my friend, are deluding yourself.

You don't think 1/4 cables are phallic?

XLR is *not* sexy.
The joke, Mr. Dense, was the SIZE, not the general shape.
Obviously my Portland hipster humor is too cool for you.

getting married got my GAS under control...

Okay, Mr. Obscure. Are you suggesting we have 1 inch or 2 inch plugs?

my GAS is sort of under control. i haven't bought any new gear in about 8 months, which is a record for me. i'm adding another cabinet to my modcan b-series system at the end of the summer, which sort of cancels out that 8 month dry spell. but after that i think i'm done. unless of course a jupiter 8 lands in my lap. or a system 100m. or an oberheim 4 voice. or an arp 2600 or ...

My GAS comes in waves. Right now I'm eyeing a Evolver... but I really shouldn't.

i have IBS.. so my gas is involentary

bummer. ibs is supposed to be very nasty. you're surprisingly good natured for an ibs person.

i forgot about the pek. i've been eyeing that for a while too. i must never look at this thread again.
