Well I've been a long time em-er, even before the crash but this is my first blog. I played my first live set on the weekend and took a few people by suprise and I guess I had a sort of revelation... I've always done the "right thing" in terms of good jobs etc and to be honest it hasn't worked out too great. It looks like I'm about to get fired and the shop that I run with my girlfriend just can't seem to find its feet despite us pouring our heart and soul into it.
So now I'm thinking why not chase some silly dreams? The end result can't work out any worse than trying to play by the rules can it? So right now my girl and I are seriously considering packing up and moving to a new country, preferably one where my flavour of minimal/tech house might be appreciated. Any ideas? I'm suspecting Europe but I'm happy for any ideas em-ers may have. Anyone from Australia will probably know just how much our country has changed lately, and not for the better.
Oh, and here are some photos of my studio. I'm guessing if we move I'll have to sell most of it, so enjoy the pics while it lasts!

Woah... thanks heaps guys! I just got an email from an old friend who's found his fortune in Brazil, so that's an option too. I'm gonna spend the next few months hassling every label that I like in the hopes they at least reply, and work hard to get the shop the way we want.
As for the sideways monitor debate? Well the stands that they're on are kind of flimsy, and they sit better sideways, and at a better height. I tend to monitor really quietly so I haven't noticed any phase issues really. I might try them upright but I don't expect a huge difference.
Thanks again, and keep the suggestions on countries coming!

Damn... being from Sydney, I've always thought the answer was to move to Melbourne
I'm now hoping that persistence and determination is the formula...

Oh don't get me wrong, Melbourne is a great place, but there are many other factors influencing my decision. I just feel like maybe it's time to try my luck somewhere else. And music is important in Melbourne, but it's still a struggle for everyone involved!

It's on Burke Rd, in Camberwell (so you can imagine the rent!). It's a womens fashion boutique called Vivez L'Amour - check it out at link .
I can do you a great deal on a dress!
