So... it's after eleven in the evening and I'm still sweating like a pig. Belive it or not, but it can get pretty hot in Sweden during the summer. The wheather has been great, but you tend to get kind of sick of it when you can't get any sleep because of it...
Anyways. Haven't got much to do at the moment (because of all the students in this university town, it tends to get pretty slow during the summer), so I thought I might as well try out this new blog function (which is great! blogging for all!). And shout out hey! how are you? to all my old friends at this lovely community. I haven't been hanging out here that much for a while now, for several reasons.
First and foremost, I haven't been working much on any electronic music project for a while now, so I have nothing to release. That doesn't mean I have given up music though. Quite the opposite. A while back I felt I needed to get more into the theory of music. I used to focus more on sound design, but I reached a point where I felt this was not enough. I felt the music was tonally poor. So, the thought was, with a bit of experience with traditional tonal music (classical and jazz mostly), I could enrich the music I was already making. Also, I started learning how to play the piano. Once again, I feel that it is so much easier to write melodies and chord progressions if you can actually play them on a keyboard.
I used to think that playing an instrument according to sheet music would be a non-creative way of dealing with music. Now I'm finding out it's quite the opposite. Playing the piano is so much fun, especially when you're getting better at it. Sheet music often leaves a lot of room for individual interpretation. And playing music in different styles also gives you a good basis for improvisation.
Now I'm just hoping to be able to start writing electronic music again with all this new experience in the back of my head. And when I do, I think it's gonna sound great . Firstly, I thought I might re-release some of my old favorites. I have som webspace to upload them on, and then I just have to release them again. After all, they all dissapeared with this new em411, and at the moment, they can't be heard anywhere on the web.
Well, enough of this narcissism for now. Writing blogs is fun, in any case.
And also:
I'm rooting for France this sunday. And for the germans tomorrow.
And remember kids, Phil Collins is killing music!

learning things verbatim is still the best way to learn anything. the best thing i ever did for myself musically was learning how to play other people's sax solos. :D

So, it turned out that july was the hottest month ever measured in Lund. For like 150 years or so. The green house effect, I guess. And this blog was written in the beginning of that month...
