Louis and Bebe Barron's score of the 1956 movie forbidden planet turned out to be eerily similar to what cassini picked up from saturn a few years back.

i think it's unknown at the time, and i think my astronomy teacher mentioned something about auroras... aah fuck, let me wikipedia that. sorry, i used to know more stuff about planets but i was corrupted by music and computers during my college years (i was an astronomy/physics major - sort of)
i've never seen forbidden planet, and i'm definitely renting it now. it looks very eerie

Forbidden Planet has been my favorite movie since I was 7. Every time I watch it, it starts to mean a little more to me, and I understand it a little better.
And this just freaked the hell out of me. Maybe we could hear this stuff before subconsciously and thats why all of our music about space sounded this way?

The sad thing is that Bebe and Louis Barron were blacklisted from doing any more films by the musician's union...sad story, because they were doing amazing things with incredibly primitive circuits and feedback at the time.
