--> i bought some tickets to see aphex twin at the warehouse project in manchester in august. i got rung up yesterday. they oversold by 300 on the collect tickets. so my two got cancelled. i sent them quite a strong email yesterday (it had the words f**k, tard and coke addled in it) and they apologised and offered me some backstage passes for soulwax. no thanks!

i explained i do gigs and am booked and can't rearrange, but i had bought some tickets on ebay for aphex when i found out mine had been cancelled.

she then told me that the ebay tickets might be fakes, as there had been reports of holographic tickets being forged and sold on ebay, or ones that have been cancelled. but i can email her the numbers so she can check they are ok.
she also told me how to check for a fake ticket namely if it turns black when burnt with a lighter!

anyway just to say that its put a downer on me. but i am determined to go no matter what. sod the touts and the ticket scammers.

i pretty much agree with this right here. even though i think SAWII was his best work, he definitely loves what he does. and he can actually write good "songs." aphex is a good dad even if he's no longer "new."

i've heard him play live once. right before paradinas. what a night

Fuck being "new" ... it's all about being "FRESH!"

wtf quip. not good. emmail me if you want to come to ATP, got a last minute spare ticket going for face value...hmmm...maybe i should start a blog to advertise it but let me know if you want to share a chalet with me and 5 other wankers...

i'm not a groupie or anything but i must've seen aphex 5 or more times over the years. right from back at the Bowgie in Cornwall (1989ish), to about 4 years ago at some club in london which had a robot barman. Que club with paradinas supporting in-between. Mainly livesets, some DJ sets, all entertaining, some amazing - imho. Will be at ATP next weekend too, will report back

damn ... what was he doing in 89 ?

can someone update the faq? i don't know what my opinions are.

djugel: that is my guess at a year...not 100%

i was lucky enough to grow up in cornwall and the bowgie was an amazing venue/scene. i saw afx there twice. was the ambient works (1)/digeridoo era. the version of digeridoo off classics is 1990 [live in Cornwall]...and i was potentially there. schweeeeet!

sweet! how old were you?
I was 15ish. was lucky cos my main music friends/influences were a couple of years older (and could drive - hehe)...plus i was pretty musically advanced i guess, due to years of my dad playing KH stockhausen / john cage / steve reich / john zorn / ornette coleman / robert johnson / leadbelly / miles davis - etc etc...lucky me

what's the pic ?

my two cent: : : astroid = funny

that really sucks. afx is one of the artists I would love to see live at least once before i die.
