can't wait dude

atum: umm, it's already open.

Gratuitous use of the word chill.

ok. I'd like to off some critical analysis, if you don't mind.

The site looks fine (although getting away from that default forum theme would be good, which is what you were alluding to earlier I'm sure), but I fail to see what this site uniquely offers the user that would draw them to the site and get them to return again and again. There are a million boards on the net, a lot of which look nicer and function better than the phpbb one, so that leaves you with a decision: Do you spend the time and money to make a better, nicer board that will draw a wide range of users in because of it's drastically better usability and features or do you pair down your demographic from "everybody". Take this site as an example, it caters to only electronic musicians, yet because of it's excellent (for the most part!) design it has a dedicated user group... it has us because it: has custom coded forums + blogs + releases + pms +radio + a friend system + a storage feature + more; it looks really nice/intuitive; it is almost impervious to spambots (which phpbb is not!).
I'm not trying to come off like an asshole and point out discrepancies, I'm simply trying to highlight the fact that even when shooting for a niche audience, you really need to bring your A game if you want people to visit your site and that's with the added draw of the fact that a user knows they are entering a community that is centered around their interest. If you are shooting for an audience of "everyone" you're going to have to offer something really outrageously cool and easy to use to draw users, and even then there's no guarantee. Think about that for a second, a site for everyone leaves you competing against MySpace, Facebook and other sites that have teams of highly paid wed devs with budgets in the millions.

I'd also do away with the splash page, they are a convention of 1998 and really serve no purpose.

This is really just my $0.02, I hope it was helpful!

Ditto on the splash page thing, it doesnt add much

i think its a noble idea, looks like there isn't much action there yet. hope you promote it well. we all know phbb is boring and easy for anyone to start up, so don't fell too bad about some of the other comments. just my opinion but its not urban at all to censor free speech
