RIP STOCKHOUSER

"I just don't know what you mean by all square waves."

It's just a matter of fact. Source material is 100% square waves. Everything else is processing. Maybe that's different from what you thought I meant.

wasn't that demo patch in max/msp inspired by one of his pieces?
Recent blogs: jfk, STFU Tokyo 2009, Freeta Sounds

There's a recording of a lecture that he did in 66 on the internet. He runs through some concepts and contrasts it with his work. Rather interesting, when you view it in terms of current music.

sadness ....

Just to prove nagrom doesn't know anything... the sound in kontakte were filtered IMPULSES not square waves. skippy stop pretending you're the shiznit cause you don't know SHEEAATT

And further:

"Nearly all the electronic sounds were produced with an impulse generator (the speed of the impulses could be varied continuously between 16 and 1/16 impulses per second, the duration of these impulses being variable between 1/10000 and 9/10 seconds). I also used a tuneable selective amplifier (used as a fairly narrow filter) with continuously variable band-width and correspondingly variable decay periods. A scaled band filter was also used. A few isolated sound events were produced by sine wave generators and a square wave generator.

sux.

stop squabbling. :P

someone already said the thread killer word.... several pages ago.
on a lighter note, i like tape recording experiments and haven't heard his stuffs. hmmm. will go listen.
Yet another one of the great generation of uncompromising modernists has left us. Ok, so he was an excentric, and probably a bit of a megalomaniac towards the end. And from what I understand, not an easy guy to deal with. But still, he made an unforgettable contribution to the world of electronic and contemporary classical music. Rest in peace, you loveable old wacko!

i lol'd

i like those notation drawings
looks almost exactly like stuff i did when i was doing an art degree

In Kontakte ... I'm hearing drums and piano .. and tons of other things.

djugel: There are two versions of Kontakte: one for tape only, and one for tape and acoustic instruments.
