things are definitely better than last year. last year i went without any work for some two and a half months. sounds great i bet BUT then had to worry about all those pesky things like "rent" and "groceries". so it wasn't all that awesome.
this year looked like it was going to be the same-maybe a little easier, but still kinda shitty. i bit the bullet and asked my dad for some dough. he obliged wonderfully without even a sideward glance, and gave us about 1.5 months of living expense money. so it was looking we were just gonna squeak by.
the day after i deposit the check, my boss calls and tells me we got these three extra movies. that's a glorious revelation. we're doing really well then.
and then, today, he tells me that not only is that happening, but we also have about three more side projects that are happening at the exact same time. he then called later to tell me that he'd be driving my past due checks over, and that he had ordered an HD system.
also awesome-
about a month ago, i found a praying mantis on my steps. I put it in a glass and ran out to the first people I saw. they said "hey neat" and then one lady said "OMFG my son has a praying mantis! he loves it! can he have it?" and calls him on a cell phone.
and this 12 year old kid comes haulassing barefoot down the street. he grabs his mantis bucket, and we drop the little bugger in. well, turns out that that was a pregnant female. she laid her eggsack of 300-500 babies! i guess only a few will survive but :D:D:D
i feel really blessed and lucky
and i'm on a major david lynch kick. i watched all of twin peaks last week, and dune last night.

awesome for you. when it rains it pours! that's great about the studio being busy. it's nice to hear about a place doing well.
also, i got the DVD set of twin peaks a while ago and we finally finished all episodes. so good but i hate the ending. i can see how he wanted to do that because they canceled the show. in the bonus DVD he's very candid about the network pressuring him to do certain things etc. also, shelly is still hot!
happy winter man. i hope you don't get too busy to savor it... but as the saying goes.. 'work is welcome'

it all goes downhill for me when they start the subplot with the orchid guy. ugh.
i actually liked the end, and the movie. i was suprised at the movie to see how good sheryl lee is!

yeah the strike actually hit me too, the guy who was having me do music for his cbs show has basically been shut down while the strike is going on.
the post house i work for is way too low-end and small to be affected by it. three of these movies are turkish.

that's what i had thought, but the characters actually morph into one another. if you accept the character combinations, the plot is really linear.

yeah that makes sense now. i originally thought the whole film was a wierd loop. lynch is cool but he gives me nightmares of indians standing over my bed

rad dude! glad you've got an awesome winter and the work is flowin. praying mantis' are the fucking ninja's.
also, mulholland drive was originally supposed to be a television series (mini-series? can't remember), but they ended up converting the few episodes that were shot into a feature. hence the extra "wtf?" even for Lynch.

i liked most of the end and thought parts of it were hilarious... the bank scene for example. the red curtain room is great always. the orchid guy made me lol he was so bad. i love the melodrama lynch gets into sometimes. it's so over the top. i LOVED the movie. i thought it was great. especially the opening 30 minutes or so.. and one eyed jacks.. c'mon.. how can anyone not love that scene. the band kills and the 'highschool sandwich" line is classic. it hought the movie was great actually. all of it. i'll probably watch the series again soon.
