things are definitely better than last year. last year i went without any work for some two and a half months. sounds great i bet BUT then had to worry about all those pesky things like "rent" and "groceries". so it wasn't all that awesome.
this year looked like it was going to be the same-maybe a little easier, but still kinda shitty. i bit the bullet and asked my dad for some dough. he obliged wonderfully without even a sideward glance, and gave us about 1.5 months of living expense money. so it was looking we were just gonna squeak by.
the day after i deposit the check, my boss calls and tells me we got these three extra movies. that's a glorious revelation. we're doing really well then.
and then, today, he tells me that not only is that happening, but we also have about three more side projects that are happening at the exact same time. he then called later to tell me that he'd be driving my past due checks over, and that he had ordered an HD system.
also awesome-
about a month ago, i found a praying mantis on my steps. I put it in a glass and ran out to the first people I saw. they said "hey neat" and then one lady said "OMFG my son has a praying mantis! he loves it! can he have it?" and calls him on a cell phone.
and this 12 year old kid comes haulassing barefoot down the street. he grabs his mantis bucket, and we drop the little bugger in. well, turns out that that was a pregnant female. she laid her eggsack of 300-500 babies! i guess only a few will survive but :D:D:D
i feel really blessed and lucky
and i'm on a major david lynch kick. i watched all of twin peaks last week, and dune last night.

that one armed man in twin, hidin beside the bedpost, still gives me shivers.
still need to watch the movie, but i wanted to see all the episodes, and still haven't managed to work my way through season 2.

great news  i didn't know that insect was called praying mantis. we call it "Mary's horse" here.
dune would have been awesome if the production didn't screw up with the editing. now it's just a good movie. i think lynch has stated that it shouldn't even be considered his movie. it would have been even more awesome if it were directed by jodorowski and scored by pink floyd, as originally planned.

I totally met Jan D'Arcy of Twin Peaks (tv and movie I believe) filming a short film last year. She was rad. I was just an extra but she was totally sweet and chatting with everyone and taking some home movies.

i do know about dune though, i watched it when i was 10 and i've been watching it on and off ever since. dune 2000 for pc was a pretty major childhood occupation too : P.
