doesn't lookto me like absolute feature creep. there's a new instrument, video import, but mostly it's finetuning the existing workflow.

dont know about anyone else but i am totally excited about this feature, i have been wanting them to do add some sort of multi-parameter editing system since, like, version 3! Frankly this plus multiprocessor support is worth the update alone (plus the new sampler in the screenshots looks pretty hot).

Those screenshots are very enlightning jdg, ta...

the way I understand it the "Sampler" will cost $$$ just like Operator right?

ah yup. more expensive than the update to 6 itself: link

whut the fuk. i just when from feeling pistive about live 6 & ableton to thinking they are jerks.

There are some nice little features (personally I like the dual core support, racks, and video), but I really wish there was as cheaper byo (samples, fx, etc.) version of live. Like Live Lite with no restrictions and stripped of crap I'll never use.

btw: I think it really lame of them for charging so much (or anything at all) for "Sampler". It's like Propellerheads charging Reason users per module. Bitches...

Yes, the extra cost for operator has always made me a bit upset. Now something I really want, an intergrated multi-wave sampler...more money? Not to pre-judge something I haven't used, but I think I will buy shortcircuit instead.

the 'deep freeze' function looks handy, as does the channel rendering
multi-destination of midi is their biggest selling point for me
sampler looks good, too bad about the price (since i own kontakt2)

That pretty much sums up my feelings as well.

well said. pretty much sums it up for me. i loved ableton until they made that operator synth cost extra. bullshit move imo. lost a lot of fans on that one i think. i only use live lite these days. if they would take out their instruments and unrestrict track numbers, or at least increase them to 10 audio, 10 midi, i'd pay $100 for it probably. no way i'm paying $400 for the full version and then more money for instruments.

edit: holy crap, i mean $500 for the full version, $200 for sampler, $150 for operator. these instruments can't even be used outside of live can they? so you're edging up on $1000 for a daw and 2 instruments. wow.

multitrack bounce is cool, macros look cool too sort of like the way you can link parameters in a nord lead or nord modular and "morph" them. i think that's applicable to lots and lots of parameters which could be pretty cool in a live situation.

dual core support == twice the cpu for me. i wish that sampler was $99, though. $200 is going to be competing with other things (like my kids prechool bill) and isn't going to happen.

No upgrade for me either. Looks like Live is trying to become Sonar or Cubase. Why not just buy Sonar or Cubase then?! I'll check 'em out at version 7.

is ableton.com working on your PCs and macs?
i only get the "connection failure" message...

yeah I can't help but think it cheeky to give it a new version number, but charge extra for sampler. that should fucking well be included!
6 had better be a lot lot faster to work with in arrangement view. I still really want blocks in arrangement to be backed by solid colour, not just a band at the top. And for session view to record automation in the clip.
